When your very best pair is held together with duct tape, it's time for new ones.
I wanna get 3 pair but I'd like to keep the total cost under 150.00. I may wanna get one "very good" pair and two "just OK" pair.

I'm looking at the latest musician's friend catalog. There's a whole page of 'em; AT, Nady, Sony, AKG, Sennheiser etc. I'm accustomed to the Sony "Circuit City special" vc 202's. I think they ran around 35.00. They sound OK. I want the new ones to sound at least that good, but durability is equally important.

So whaddayathink?

get two of those 202s and one pair of sony mdr-7506s. they are the bomb.

xoxo

I would go Sony MDR7504's (if they still make em) or 7506's. I have two pairs of AKG 240's and I've replaced the 1/8" inputs twice on the pair I've only had two years. Of course, your mileage da-da-da.......

another "good" pair of phones some people highly recommend are the Fostex t50RP's. I used to sell these three (those, the 7506's and the 240's) equally.

With that in mind, I know if anyone went down a level in price, they almost always bought the 7504's or gasp! the 7502's. It's been about two years so I'm not even sure these models are still available but you can take a look.

Thank you for the tips. Very good info.
