Use polarity reversing cables, if you have a problem.

Do you have a polarity problem? I'd be interested to hear about your test method for checking your signal path polarity.

HOW DO I DO THIS?

Use polarity reversing cables what are those?

are Polarity reverse cable 1/4inch?

are polarity reverse cables only XLR?

Well, walters, the easiest way, and therefore the one you will pretend not to see, is by looking at your gear and manuals. Somewhere in there will be the pin standard for the gear. If all your gear uses the pin 2 hot standard, or uses tip positive, then if you use regular correctly wired cables, correct polarity will be maintained. If you have a piece that is the opposite polarity, switching the + and - on XLR or 1/4" cables, whichever the gear is, will correct the problem. Make sure you only switch the polarity on either the inputs or the outputs, not both.

To be sure, you could use a signal generator and an oscilloscope.

Some people feel it doesn't matter. Some feel it only matters as long as the speakers observe the same polarity as the original signal- that is, a positve voltage on the tip or pin 2 of an XLR produces forward motion of the speaker cone. Some feel correct polarity should be maintained throughout every piece of gear in the system.

So. if I play a brittish album (like The Beatles, The Who etc.) which way should I wire the speakers?

How do I do this?

Hey, Hey :D :D :D :D

I understand about flipping the wires on the XLR balanced

what about the 1/4inch unbalanced because its just Tip and Sleeve
the sleeve is ground and i can't run audio through the ground
so how do i switch the polarity for a 1/4 inch unbalance 2 wire not 3 wire?

You'd just swap them around.

They will put the signal into the ground then right?

won't that be a ground loop problem?

walters stop going in all my threads following me everywhere with your loser polarity units this is my polarity reversing units thread i have receipt
