A few years ago a good working condition Tascam 38 was dropped during shipping (UPS) and i have it here now (given to me by a friend). I am thinking about parting it out or selling it whole to someone here who might need spares or want the parts for some other machine/experiment they may have been wanting to do. The following is what i know of the machine:
-Dropped by UPS, was 100 percent functioning beforehand.
-Powers on, VUs light, fast forward and rewind work, play works, but a new belt is needed.
- Casing has a decent amount of damage.
-One of the reel motors was replaced with a new motor from Tascam about a month after the machine was dropped.
-Heads are in really nice condition, seems like a very low use machine as far as i can tell.
So anyways that is what i know of the machine. Could be a decent fixer upper, could be a money pit. But, it was working fine before it was dropped and most of its functions seem to still be there and working to a degree. The best parts of this machine are the low use heads and the new motor that was installed.
Let me know if anyone is interested in any of this. I figured id ask here first since there is more of an interest in tape machines here.
