I have a SM94 and an AKG C1000 atm.

What are the disadvantages in 2 different overheads?
What are the advantages?
(I love to test but I don't have 2 identicals ;))

If I have very loud cymbals and a +-small room, wich mic should I buy as a second mic?
I'm going to use the other mic as a Hi-hat mic; wich is most suitable ?

I know it all ''depends'' but I don't trust my ears very much for this one :)

Well, the sm94 is more expensive but may not necessarily mean better. I am partial to Shure over AKG. However, You may want to look into the Avenson STO-2. they're $500 a pair and Fletcher, if I remember correctly, said some nice things about them. Then you can just use either the sm94 or the c1000 on the hi-hat.

Small room for loud cymbals... the best advice I can give is keep the cymbals as low (in height) as you can and hang an absorbing cloud above the whole kit about 3" from the ceiling.
