Hi there.

A friend just gave me an Alesis Midiverb. The first model, from 1986, in all its boxy glory. Perfect for my Yamaha 4-track.

But without a power supply. It needs a three-pin 16V CT power supply.

The folks at Radio Shack just stared at me in confusion, though I was eventually able to glean from their catalog that they don't make one. Though perhaps I wasn't gleaning hard enough...

The guy who runs my favorite dusty-old-stuff music shop in Marina del Rey said that they're impossible to find so just throw the Midiverb away.

And the good folks at Alesis just offered to modify the existing unit. For a hundred bucks. I politely declined.

Anyone out there got a three-pin 16V power supply they're not using? If not, know anyone who makes them?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Darth,
Do you know if the needed power supply is actually a center tapped ac transformer or does it need to be a balanced DC supply? Can you explain what kind of connector is required? I'm surprised that Alesis does not have a replacement supply, but if you can get more specific with the parameters, I think we could come up with either a schematic for one or I could check out an electronics surplus store near me for you.

Yo Dearth of Darth of Ratiocination:

Throw your midiverb away; it's too old. Yeah, man, it may work but for less than 200 pezzutos, you can get a new Lexicon MPX 100 -- a very nice reverb and easy to use.

That way, you have new technology and Lexicon is a good product. But, if you find a cord or plug or power source for your midiverb -- ok I still use an Alesis Midiverb III in my studio; however, the Lexicon, for less money, is better.

My thanks to both of you for replying!
Mr Jkruta: I wasn't even aware there WAS such a thing as an electronic surplus store. ( I'll wait till you're done laughing. OK. ) I've just found a few in my local Yellow Pages and will get cracking immediately. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Mr. Hornet: though I admit my ratiocinative powers are somewhat less than Hawking-like, I've always liked the sound of the old Midiverb - especially the big rooms - and thus will continue the hunt for a power supply. (I'm not exactly swimming in pezzutos right now, either.) However, should my quest come to naught, the first unit I investigate will be the Lexicon you referred to.

Thanks again -
With all best wishes
