Does anyone know if there is a good sound module for producing orchestral instrument sounds (or perhaps even software with a MIDI interface for this purpose....or, rather, anything short of buying a workstation [see, my whole hope is to finally use the controller features of my Kurzweil PC88MX that I bought a few months back])? Any recommendations/brief reviews would be greatly appreciated (since I can't exactly afford the inherent costs of even attempting to get some of my work performed, let alone the probable lack of interest in it).

Thanks in advance.

Somebody posted a question just like this last month. Do a search on old threads.

Right, there were several suggestions in that previous thread. I would suggest the following as the cheapest way to get great orchestral sounds in a small hardware package:

Get either the Roland XV-2020 or XV-5050 and put in the SRX-04 Symphonique Strings card, and the SRX-06 Complete Orchestra card. I've used many many different synths, and in my opinion, the Roland setup beats them all. The only way to get better is to use a sampler with a large library. Of course, that will be much more money.
