older 2488 tascam, error code 02 initialize.

I would like an opinion or direction of what to do to correct this problem on an older 2488 i was given. it boots up and works fine for 20 minutes or so, then i lose the faders signal. i can still hear the instrument or vocal, just no signal, and when i try to shut down, i get error code 02 initialize?
