It's one of the most wonderful things to discover and rediscover music. For instance Bob Marley. I've heard his music many times on the radio and at parties. So when i decide to check someone out i will do some investigating. I picked up his Exodus record and absolutely love it. As i'm listening i will get on the internets and check out not only the artist, but also what was happening in the world at that time. Kinda like using the internet as a time machine. I've since bought 3 more Marley records and the Live At The Rainbow concert. Unbelievable performances on that. I would play Bob EVERYDAY last summer. His music seems like it just can't be played loud enough.

One of the greatest gifts music has to offer is that it is always there waiting to be discovered and rediscovered.
yeah ...... I find that as I grow as a musician, I hear old stuff in a new way.

However, sometimes that's not so good. Recently I ran across a Jefferson Airplane album and spun it ....... shockingly horrible!
:D

Yes, Jefferson Airplane has not stood the test of time!

well, no I don't think so. Because there's plenty of stuff from back then that sounds awesome even by todays' standards. I would imagine that anyone playing and hearing at my current level back then would have found it bad.

huh. i still think old Airplane stuff sounds great.
just sayin. no accounting for taste?

at least Surrealistic Pillow through Crown of Creation... i can't speak for later J Starship which i always thought was total schlock

I've said it before and I'll bring it up again.

If TOMMY BOLIN - PRIVATE EYES (Columbia) slipped past you in 1976 you missed the best. You would swear that it was recorded yesterday!

THE BAND: Tommy Bolin: guitar, piano, vocals Mark Stein: keyboards, vocals Norma Jean Bell: sax, perc, vocals Reggie McBride: bass, vocals Bobby Berge: drums, percussion.

For the love of God man just check it out. My favorites on the album is *Shake the Devil*, and *Post toastee*.

Sounds like really good 70s rock, which i love. I know he gets mentioned in the guitar rags a lot. Liking the song Teaser right now.

well ..... badly out of tune singing isn't really just a matter of taste.
The specific album I'm talking about .... let me go see ....,. The Worst of Jefferson Airplane.
It's the one with 'White Rabbit' and Don't You Want Somebody To Love' to love on it.

Now those two particular songs sound great, as you knew they would since we've all heard them so many times and there's a reason they've stood the test of time and are classics.
But literally everything else on that album sounds like some amateur you-tube submission. The disconnect between those two songs and the restr of the album is quite dramatic and had me running to the turntable to replay something thinking that I must have heard it wrong.

Sometimes groups hit songs won't really sound like the more obscure of their catalog.

"someones always plaaaayin CORPORATION GAMES!!!!"
