Old bands you have just discovered

I'm not sure but moorcock narrated the Warrior on the Edge of Time album.....

"And the wizard blew his horn....."

I just thought that it was intriguing that Morecock wrote of Hawkwind with this *machine* that they sent their music through at a live show and everyone was so pleasant then as the band stopped playing the crowd went into all out rioting making the band having to not stop playing .... What a concept!

I was just thinking I need to archive that stuff. I made around 16 hours of recordings of the pop festival. Got The Allmans before Duane was dead ........ got some bands that ceased to exist not long afterwards. Tapes are getting pretty old now ...... I'll probably have to bake them.

I've pretty much reduced all my old cassettes to a half a milkcrate full after throwing away hundreds. all that's left is the weirdest of the weird, things I can't get anywhere else and stuff that I did.
keep meaning to archive it but its just hours and hours of work and I keep putting it off.
meanwhile they get stickier and stickier every year.

yeah ...... I have tons of stuff I need to archive and it has to be done in real time plus the extra time it takes to make sure levels are right ...... dolby is right .... everything's clean ..... ....... a lot of cassettes but much of mine is reel to reel. And I have Dat tapes out the butt that need it too.
Probably hundreds of hours of work and I just can't find the time.

I'm gonna regret it someday though.

i can see that being a short-lived experiment

It was a good read. I really enjoy Morecocks writings. Though I don't usually go for fiction, I'm more of a science journal reading guy.

Funny how the *Let me introduce myself* thread in the newbie forum - ie. Famous DAVE - has taken on a sort of Michael Smith persona like in the book *Stranger in a strange land* by Robert A. Heinlein.

One of these days, when I get around to it, I'll do a "Great Aussie Bands You May Have Missed" thread in the Cave.... all the ones I'm thinking of for this thread you probalby would never have heard of....

Yeah Armistice you got to do that! I think right of the top of my head I can only name one band from OZ.

No dc/ac :laughings: they got everything backwards and upside down in OZ.

but yeah I just dropped in to recommend both the 2001 soundtrack and the soundtrack to The Shining.
Kubrick and I woulda gotten along because we both love Gyorgi Ligeti, Kryzstoff Pendrecki, and Wendy/Walter Carlos.

I've never got too close to one - I hear they will punch your lights out

I've had to do something similar a few times, tapes into CDs, putting CDs in order (ie listening to stuff, then putting the songs into an order that I like, then recording them etc), vinyl onto CD, then all to cassette as I'm a tape man.....all kinds of stuff. I didn't have the time either so I made use of every available spare moment. I would aim for a couple of albums a day onto a CD. More if possible. If I added up the time, then you're talking a couple of years. It seems initially like nothing's happening. The number never seems to go down. Then suddenly, one day, there's only five more to go and when it's all done, it's like giving up ciggies or when the kids leave home. Like, blimey, I don't know what to do with myself ! And I have to say, it's ever so worth it.
Do it Bob ! It'll be over before you know it and then you'll have it all organized at your fingertips. You'll know where everything is and can listen at will.

I frequently get close my kanga buddies. I think their faces are really scary. But they taste delicious. It's a shame they're not native to North London ! :D

I have some albums to CDs that I did a while back ..... now I''m noticing that the CDs are peeling!!!! POOP!!!

The albums all still look like the day I purchased them ........................ go figure :o

vinyl rules ...... I'm a vinyl guy ..... no interest in putting my vinyl on CD. But I do need to archive those tapes.

Hey Lt. I have some Vinyl that is red see through and most of the words are in IDK? Japanese except for the artists and the names of the songs, are these boot legs from way back when or just weird imports?
