I bought a new MIM telecaster the other day. A beautiful ash body in high gloss.
Every thing was great great for a while after setting the neck action till the neck pick up starting fading in and out. There was major hum and hissing I called the GC and they said I would have to exchange for a new non ash tele or ship it back to fender. I decided not to waste any gas or time with those fools.
Any way I tore it apart and did the full shielding treatment complete with soldering the copper tape. Installed some extra grounding and applied foil underneath the pickguard. I also resoldered the pickup wires while I had it open.
Wow what a difference it is quiter than my AM strat and LP now.
The only problem is I can hear the true quaility of the pick ups and I need to get something with a bit more output and quality.
What do you guys use for your tele pickups? I've heard some good things about the Bill Lawrence pickups anyone had any experience with them.
It looks like there are 2 different places selling different versions.
