Welcome, @pparvin :D When you're on the opening page here, scroll down the forums list to find Tascam's forum. Just make a new post there.

New to the forum? Say hello, tell us a little about your self. Meet the gang :p

Welcome to HomeRecording Forum! :guitar:
Hello, I'm JT and I'm new to the group. I'm a contemporary jazz artist and studying Music Production here at LAFS. I look forward to learning new things from this group, collaborating, and networking. Thanks.

Hello everyone
I've been living a dream for so long now, and maybe someday soon it will come true as I will be retiring for my day job. For the past 10+ years I've been buying various instrument and other equipment in the hopes I will put something down good enough to listen too or whatever. and maybe help other record their stuff etc.

Hi pparvin.

The DP03SD isnt like a cell phone or MP3 player where you can simply copy a file to the SD card and play it. First, it needs to be in WAV format and at 44.1kHz/16bit, and copied to the WAVE folder on the SD card. It must then be imported to a project. The procedure is found on page 63 of the user manual. It must be copied to your project before you can play it.

The 1/8" jack should be stereo. Most basic headphones and ear buds today use that size jack, some come with a screw on adapter so you can use them in 1/4" devices. You don't want to use one with a microphone which probably has a 4 point plug.

Welcome to the group Eclipse!

old fart... used to do vocals in a quartet and play trumpet and baratone. Trying to get back into it at retirement. Got a tascam dp03sd cant get anything to work.... I loaded a couple of songs from the computer and when I go to songs it only shows one file and with headphones pluged in I get nothing. Just simple question, is the headphone mono or stereo ? it doesnt say anywhere that I find. I had to order a special cable to go from this unit to the amp so havent tried that yet.
Once I download background track... how does it get to a track on my recording?
Not sure if this is the proper place to put questions but I am frustrated !
Thanks,
Phil
Hi Phil and welcome. I don't have a DP03SD to play with but I read that it records to an SD card? You could therefore try a 'brute force' method to get tunes into it...
I am assuming the Tascam uses, or can use, standard '.wav' audio files and so transfer some audio to a card on your laptop, a USB 2.0 card reader is cheap as chips. A USB 3.0 is dearer but better. Then slot the card into the DPO. It should then read the file.

I don't know what recording software you are using on the laptop but the easiest to start with is Audacity. Saving the files at 16 bits and 48kHz should be readable by the Tascam though I am sure it can cope with other formats.
Better than Audacity will be Reaper and depending upon your musical leanings you might find Bandlab's free Cakewalk very useful.

I am sure a DPO3 owner will be along to slap me soon! Meantime I shall see if I can find you a sensible review of the wee box. Oh yes! EVERYTHING is stereo these days!

See? Rich knows! BTW I suggested 48kHz because that is the only option for some devices and just about anything else can read 48k/16 bit files.

Dave.

I believe my DP008 EX only does 44.1K. I can't see that the DP03 will manage 48K.

Hello,
I try to make music with Fruity Loops, Started in Summer of 2023 and have been making some progress, Not much but normal progress for 1 year i guess. (I guess because I have been drawing for 10 years and it started at same phase.)

Welcome aboard @pipegrid
Everybody has to start somewhere and we're all learning.

Feel free to share something in the MP3 Mixing Clinic, whether finished or work in progress. (y)

Welcome, pipegrid. Good to have another artist here.
Perhaps you'll get to posting some of your music soon.

Hey folks!

I joined here a few months ago when I was looking for some information, but didn't take the time to post until now. I just wanted to thank all of you for the collective knowledge here and say "hello."

I've been a bedroom musician most of my life (I'm 42 now, mainly playing bass but I can flub my way through guitar, synths, and a few other instruments) but never really though about recording seriously until the past couple of years when a friend of mine encouraged me to buy a Tascam 424. Working with the 424 showed me that I I actually did like recording, I just didn't like dealing with DAWs and computers. I have a desk job 40 hours per week and like to get away from screens to have fun.

So now I'm living in the 90's with my Tascam 4-track and Alesis ADAT along with some rack gear - it's a pretty fun little budget studio I've set myself up with. I've been having a lot of fun even though I don't record as much or as often as I should/would like to.

Welcome aboard @peccary
That's great, that you've figured out what you're comfortable with.
We've got some great analog-heads around here so feel free to pop in there and say hi too!

Hello everyone,
Thank you guys for giving me this opportunity to learn from each and every one of you. I'm enrolled in Los Angeles Film School. I'm majoring in Bachelor of Science in Music Production. When I obtain my certificate I'm going to have my own group and maybe someday I will have a look back at how I got started and how we became famous.
