New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

Sweet! Reply back in 10 minutes so we know you are not just another fly by guy looking for school credit. :)
Sorry just saw your response. No I am not a fly looking for school credit. We don't get credit for participating in forums. I am looking to learn from people who are in the industry so I can hit the ground running (hopefully) when I finish my program. This is a new field for me but I have done amateur level stuff for about 20 years. I used to play Mariachi and the group I was with recorded a CD. In addition, I have recorded voice over demos and used to be a volunteer radio DJ. I've also taking workshops in Sound Production many, many years ago. Ill be scanning the forums here, in particular for home recording since that's where I believe I will have to start. I already have a mini setup and will add more gear once I get my techkit from my school. This will be my last career so I want to make it count and try to do the best I can so I can really enjoy what I am doing, with your guy's help. I appreciate the response. Thanks!

Good luck! I hope it pays off for you.

Sweet Paul!

Sorry, but we get so many that just come here from a school and never hear back.

There are a bunch of seasoned professionals that frequent here.

Welcome to the forum! :)

Understood and it's expected. Appreciate you reaching out. Glad to hear there are many "seasoned" pros here so I am glad to get started and learn. I have some basics down mostly through trial and error in particular when I have recorded my own VO demos and trying to figure what are the best settings for that type of recording. I record my tracks in Acid Pro 11 then will edit in Audacity with Noise Removal, Normalization and cut out unwanted parts of the track and then add some effects in Acid Pro again. As mentioned I am waiting on my TechKit which will include some cool hardware I personally have been wanting to get. I am also looking to start creating my own music and need to learn about mixing, mastering, etc, let alone about music composition. I have a book called "The Secrets of Dance Music Production" I got from ATTACK Music Production which has some cool chapters on music production. Ive played around with some of the methods and techniques but need to start learning how to put the arrangements together for the different instruments, etc.

Send us a sample of what you have recorded now. It don't matter if you don't feel it is done yet. That is where many of us can help to move you forward quicker..

Its kind of funny that most new to home recording make the same mistakes....

There are a few of us here that actually enjoy helping others. I am one, if I can. 👍

Let me know if you can open up the file. It's in MP3 format. Of course with vocals it will fill up the empty spaces other than just the instruments playing.

Welcome Paul. I listened to your track. It sounds rather automated to me. The most natural part is the electric guitar. The drums are obviously programmed. I wonder if the strumming acoustic guitar is programmed too?
My rubbish is played live on instruments, and always has a handmade amateur feel.
Recording vocals is often not as bad as you might expect. Just wierd hearing your own voice.

Everything is generated by wav files so yes it will sound programmed. I don't have the set up to allow for live "real" instruments. I will eventually but since starting out in this field I am doing what I can to start learning the basics that way when I get to the point to record live instruments I'll have a better idea what needs to be done.

Hello bosses, I'm Taaino... gospel rapper. Trying to switch to music production, starting with FL studio and cubase, need get a good soundcard and mic later (recommendations are welcome) for now I'm just playing around with old vocals want to make a different sound (ideas are much welcome) I'd post a sample.

Hey, I'm Lauren from Deland, FL. I'm being the pianist. We record all of our music ourselves, so I thought this site might have some tips I would've otherwise never thought of.
