I didnt mention that I live about half a mile from the famous Rockfield Studios where Queen, Oasis, Brian Eno, Coldplay and a load of others recorded.

Hello all. I’m Satchel. I’ve been a singer-songwriter most my life and also a band member in all the wrong bands. I’m currently on postdoc for clinical psychology away from my wife and kids. I have finally pulled the trigger on buying equipment (some of which I’m still learning to use). I write on the keys and I’m just starting guitar lessons. The learning curve is steep and daunting at times but I love it. I’m here to learn and plug into a creative community.

Welcome Satchel! Not a bad start, looking at your kit there.
Perhaps you can use your psychology skills to cure us of spending too much on music stuff.

Yes, welcome Satchel. Your working area looks very bare and 'reflective' I see you have your mic in a Reflection Filter, never used one but write ups say they help. I would still like to see some absorbent material in front of and behind the mic setup and of course, the filter will do nothing to help the sound from your monitors.

As soon as you can I suggest you post some clips of songs (320 MP3 attachments suit me best) for the top blokes here to critique. Don't worry! They will be kind and constructive. I shall listen but not comment. Clinically mutton mate.

Dave.

Hi, I have been recording for a while started with Tascam 244 and years later Roland VS880 then VS1880 I had a hard time with the Roland. My new one is a Tascam DP03SD much easier to use and sound great.

"Introduce yourself " -- where? Here?

I'm Floyd Longwell, Oviedo, Fla. I have an old Korg D1600 mkii which I have used in the past and now I'm getting back to it. I will be recording single tracks of acoustic (classical) guitar, flute, and sax and mixing them down to tracks 1 & 2 so the Korg can spit the mix out on a CD.

I'm using two Shure SM81's. The Korg provided phantom power.

Any suggestions?

Where? - The Show-off subforum, or the MP3 Mixing Clinic subforum.
It is best to create an mp3 file of your recording, then just attach it to your post.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve been doing vocals in a small walk in closet.

Greetings to all. New member here. Looking to start networking as I am in an Audio Production program. Hope to meet and collaborate with others.

My program is a Bachelors with the Los Angeles Film School. I would like my areas of focus to be Live Sound and Post-Production with Studio recording work on the side which includes podcasting and voice overs.

I am gradually working on getting a small studio set up with basic gear but have done what I can using mostly digital audio and recording my own vocal tracks. I've also worked on creating Foley FX for projects.

As mentioned. hope to work with others to gain experience.

Hi everyone, I’m Lion 🦁
Music is just a personal hobby for me — my job has nothing to do with audio or music at all.
I really appreciate everyone here for sharing so much knowledge.
It’s great to be able to learn things outside of my main profession.
