Welcome. I'm only 72 with mile to go before I sleep.Im a little old to the game (38) but better late than never.
Hi Dave, another one here. I also run W10 and have no intention of moving to 11. I very much doubt you will need to either. If you have your PC running the way you want it you could "air gap" it from the internet and never have another problem. Should you need a basic W11 machine for 'office' work and internet you could buy a modest laptop.Hi I'm Dave. I've been playing guitar for years and love playing bass, can sing a bit and am only now learning to play keyboards.
Recorded an album a couple of years ago and half way through the 2nd. Self taught at mixing so always looking to improve, and mastering, that's tricky.
I use a 10 year old i7 PC, Windows 10 with 32GB RAM which works seamlessly with Cubase 12, as I generally track through the interface (RME BabyfacePro) zero latency. Probably need a new 'puter soon when Windows 10 bites the dust.
Always looking to improve, help out if I can, and hear what folks are up to.
I suppose we've got 18 months or so to decide, but I'm pretty happy as well as things are, suspect the motherboard might give out though.. I also run W10 and have no intention of moving to 11.

Sweet! Reply back in 10 minutes so we know you are not just another fly by guy looking for school credit.Greetings! I just started a Music Production Program with LA Film School. I am looking forward to this new career as I have wanted to get involved in this industry for more than 20 years. I am finally here!! I look forward to learning from other professionals!

Sorry just saw your response. No I am not a fly looking for school credit. We don't get credit for participating in forums. I am looking to learn from people who are in the industry so I can hit the ground running (hopefully) when I finish my program. This is a new field for me but I have done amateur level stuff for about 20 years. I used to play Mariachi and the group I was with recorded a CD. In addition, I have recorded voice over demos and used to be a volunteer radio DJ. I've also taking workshops in Sound Production many, many years ago. Ill be scanning the forums here, in particular for home recording since that's where I believe I will have to start. I already have a mini setup and will add more gear once I get my techkit from my school. This will be my last career so I want to make it count and try to do the best I can so I can really enjoy what I am doing, with your guy's help. I appreciate the response. Thanks!Sweet! Understood and it's expected. Appreciate you reaching out. Glad to hear there are many "seasoned" pros here so I am glad to get started and learn. I have some basics down mostly through trial and error in particular when I have recorded my own VO demos and trying to figure what are the best settings for that type of recording. I record my tracks in Acid Pro 11 then will edit in Audacity with Noise Removal, Normalization and cut out unwanted parts of the track and then add some effects in Acid Pro again. As mentioned I am waiting on my TechKit which will include some cool hardware I personally have been wanting to get. I am also looking to start creating my own music and need to learn about mixing, mastering, etc, let alone about music composition. I have a book called "The Secrets of Dance Music Production" I got from ATTACK Music Production which has some cool chapters on music production. Ive played around with some of the methods and techniques but need to start learning how to put the arrangements together for the different instruments, etc.Sweet Paul!
Sorry, but we get so many that just come here from a school and never hear back.
There are a bunch of seasoned professionals that frequent here.
