ok bear with me, so i bot some gear between me and my brother :
korg microkorg
Juno 106
Boss DR-110

we have been making osme stuf just messing around, but now we are enjoying it, what we are finding, is that we sometimes have two sounds on one synth that we want to use at the same time, impossible

what kind of recording tool could we use to play and record one patch, sort of like a background, and than another running sort of like a chorus

EX:
basss sound (from juno)
background (from korg)
little chorus pieces (from korg)
Drum machine

how could we make all that work?

we have all of this running on one amp so far

Yo ErsatZ:

To add to what PP said, multitracking is what you are after because you can record the drumbox and chords on separate tracks and then just add one track at a time until you are happy.

Suggest you get at least 8 tracks. 12 or 16 tracks are also good for most home studio work.

You need to make sure you KNOW how many tracks your SIAB will do at once. Like some studios in a box will only record 2 tracks at once. I would suggest you get a multitracker that can do at least 4 tracks at once, if not 8.

You can go PC program or stand alone box; there are pluses and minuses on either side of the tape.

Sounds like you're having fun and that's GOOD.

Damn strait.

Anyway, there are a lot of ways to answer your question, depending on your budget, whether you already have a good computer, etc. You really should read through the guide here:

http://www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm

Its kind of long, but if you read through it, you'll understand what you're getting into a lot better, and you'll have much more specific questions. It will introduce you to some of the common hardware and software options.
