Little suckers, aren't they? Just delivered yesterday.

The black ones (MSH-1 O) are omni; the black / silver (MSH-1 C) are cardioid, sort of; they have little holes drilled in the composite housing on the Neutrik connector behind the element. The longer one has a tube in it...

These should be fun; supposedly pretty good for acoustic instruments.

No one will ever ask you, "Is that a tube in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?" :D ;)

Here's a shot showing the business end. Not good with very high SPL (not an amp or kickdrum / toms mic) and probably not good with wind unless protected. But inside a piano lid - picking up a mandolin, maybe in the bridge of a cello, drum overheads, vocals...We'll see. :)

Funny... the right sort never ask me that. Come to think about it, neither do the wrong sort... :D

What are the little fuzzy tips on the end of the mic for? A mini windscreen or something?

mhm

i use a pair of the MSH-1A's (the old version of the O's) for drum overheads in fairly close proximity....about 3 sticks from the snare...one straight up, one over from the ride

never had a problem with spl on banging drummers

The 1Cs sound great on toms. They are very easy to place. We'll buy more.

It's a small piece of felt that covers the diaphragm, comes that way OEM from Panasonic. The diaphragm is supposedly 6mm (never cut one open, but Marik has), but the hole in the front case is only 2 or 3 mm. So the felt is mostly resting on the front case.

The felt is not effective at all as a windscreen; it's mainly to keep crud off the diaphragm.

Well, then; Iknow a drumkit that needs a little help on overheads and toms... :D These are going to get tried out on everything.

Have you guys found something other than a mic clip to mount them? I can get some clips, but they're larger than the mics themselves. I was thinking of toggling up some kind of plastic coil spring that could slip over snugly and mount on a stand somehow.

I have a bunch of guitar kerfing clamps that I made from PVC pipe - thin slices and snip apart so they clamp lightly. Thicker slices clamp with more force. I got the idea from here, or MIMF, or somewhere I saw a pic of someone more clever than I using them. Maybe something derived from that idea could work for a mic mount.

Besides the hinged-type clips, the clip that comes with the e609s is a perfect fit.

So run out and buy a bunch of e609s mics - you keep the clips and you can send me the mics! :D

It'll take one afternoon of collecting cans or 2 mowed lawns to get one of those. They sound pretty good too, so consider it "sweat" equity.

yeah; it's the size of my 603s mics. I'll find a bunch of rubbery mounts. Or I could do this: Frustration + too much beer + too much time at Staples =
