n-track program noise

When I simply open the program (when it is fully opened, before actually using it) there is a serious jump in white noise volume. And then, when I go up to the menu bar and click on one of the options, the white noise drops for a split second, then returns to the high level.
On top of this, as I record tracks, the noise only gets worse ... a lot worse (I think because of sympathy amongst the tracks).

I only have a $30 generic sound card. Perhaps as the program links up to the s.card along with the rest of the computer, the s.card just can't keep quiet...?

I believe that your soundcard is the culprit; once nTrack is open, it also "opens" the soundcard. Hence the noise.

Built-in soundcards are made with less than a dollar's worth of chips.
They are for lite gaming, beeps and boops, not recording.

#1 Rule of Recording: You ALWAYS replace the stock soundcard.
