Now I'm second guessing if I need anything on my front wall at all! I'm REALLY starting to wonder if it was worth it to build the treatment for the front wall.
Myriad, it's all about measurement. Untill you do that you don't really know anything.
To tell you the truth, I'm as confused as anyone, but as usual,

there are SOOOOOOOOOO many conflicting opinions....who the fuck knows.
But the general consensus seems to be...Measure..treat accordingly....

then use your ears.
It appears there are many people, even after reading the pros and cons...still end up using their ears, and some go against the "experts" opinions.

This whole thing never ceases to amaze me. That link is a perfect example.
That's why I tend to agree with Wes Lachot. ... "there are no ABSOLUTES" in studio design. It's all about what works for YOU.
Let me tell you something. A while back, I got a call from a well known studio designer in europe, who directly told me, that he agreed with a lot that I said on a thread over at Gearsluz. In that thread, I basically told off the whole industry for all these "schools of thought", blatant conflicts of EXPERT opinion and philosophies and lots of other things I've witnessed over the years, to the point a well known acoustician even told me he thought The Master Handbook of Acoustics(written by ANOTHER acoustician) was...well, I won't quote him, but it wasn't very nice.
Anyway, the designer from Europe went on to say he thought the whole studio design thing was filled with so many lies, he couldn't believe it. He even went so far as to spend a half hour explaining WHY.

..even why the STANDARDS that so many "experts" use as a source of reinforcing their opinions, were in his book...so weak that even a couch in a CR could satisfy the so called absorption standards!!!!

(btw, he called out a few of the experts a couple of weeks ago, and then he emailed me, saying, due to time, he gave up trying to prove why certain so called "results" were pure bullshit)
Is it any wonder why I've grown very distrustfull of ANY expert advice anymore?
So, I'll leave it at that. HOWEVER, to me, the whole stinking point here is simple.
TRANSLATION TRANSLATION TRANSLATION. If you are happy with the Translation your recordings have...hey...I'd say ..YOU'VE succeeded.

So, do what you think is right for you..then if you can..test, measure...or simply playback your recordings in a few other rooms and systems. If your happy with the results. VOILA! Who the fuck cares after that. Then it's all about trusting your setup. PERIOD.
well, that about sums up my views. Good luck Myriad.
