Moving walls.

I'm looking to build some portable walls to help with my tracking in my room. construction is not a problem, I can do it all myself. I'm using my bedroom so if I can make my room look semi presentable when I'm recording people then they'll take me more seriously and it will make recording much easier and probably improve quality a lot. And my mouse won't lose his hearing anymore! :D His name is Optimus Prime, for the record. Anyways, here is my room. Right now my computer is in the left corner of the big built in desk because it's the only section that has carpet underneath it, the other area underneath it is like, shelving almost. Like, it rises 3 inches above the carpet and stuff. Anyways, what do you guys suggest? Thanks!

To the rescue from the cave.....

Is it possible to cover up the desk completely? The desk being off center is going to cause some major symmetry issues.

It IS possible,but the room is small enough, and I think I could at least center the computer and monitors on it, need be.
 
What is your question? I wouldn't wall off a room that small. You might want some "gobos" to put in front of amps or singers when you need a little isolation but not sure what you have in mind.

Well what I want to do is have some "walls on wheels" persay, that I can roll in when I'm doing drum recordings, vocals, or guitar, so that they can be isolated. Maybe that's what a Gobo is? Never heard of it, I'll look it up now though. Ok, yes, kind of like a gobo, but bigger, more heavy duty. Like temporary walls.
 
You're talking almost floor to ceiling here?

Pretty much, I was thinking like, 6 inches-ish, so I can put them on wheels and also be able to tip them backwards to get themt hrough doors and such.

So they can be isolated from what? Unless you build a sealed room then they won't be isolated. A gobo just helps with reflections back in the mic. What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm trying to make it so it's not like I have the drummer laying down tracks in the same room as me, I would like to try to kill the sound between us at least a little bit. I mean, I know it's really makeshift, but it's something for the time being and my situation.

Thats not possible, just wear -30db (noise canceling) headphones to help.

To do what you're wanting you would have to build a room withing your garage. Gobos are just for effecting the sound into the mics, not isolation.

What would you recommend? My only tracking headphones are Sony MDR-V150's, which I KNOW aren't noise canceling.
 
Sennheiser HD280Pro will help, but just know that drums are LOUD and there is pretty much nothing you can do to eliminate some noise. I use the same headphones for tracking drums BTW and they are rated at the same noise reduction as any of them (extreme etc) but sound good to.
 
I use the HD280's also. They are great for isolation. I need to get another pair though because the drummer always needs them.
