I was reading the earlier posts on monitors and had a couple of additional questions that I'm pondering. I'm just starting; a strong RYO, Sonar XL, 2 C1's, and a DaviSound TB-3. All decisions made by listening to you guys [with appreciation! ]. I have been painfully led to MONITORS. The pain comes from believing that one can do without monitors; that is, until you read 50 umpteen posts in a row from guys who seem to know what they are talking about that they are ESSENTIAL! It'll be a while before I will be at mixing, but it will be done via monitors. With high probability Events. I read that the 20/20 bas are the place to be but I note from the Event website that they are touting the PS-6 and PS-8. Does anybody have any comparisons of these?

More importantly, if I get a pair of 20/20's would the addition of the 20/20 subwoofer be desirable?

Back to headphones: I'll need headphones to monitor earlier recorded tracks while I play a sax or vibes. I presume that comfort as well a fidelity would be important here. Any suggestions?

BTW, you pros do a great job of helping the Newbies!

Bob,
You will find that everyone has their favourite monitors and ultimately what you buy has to be your choice, so if possible get to hear as many as you can.....in shops, studios, where ever. Find those that your ears like but remember that they may sound different in your room as opposed to in a shop, etc.

Yo Roberto:]

Lots of cans mentioned in lots of posts. But, a nice set of cans for a reasonable price = Beyer 770. They are a bit tight on the head but maybe I've got a large cranium. Nice clear bass and great for overdubbing.

Ask Roul -- he uses them too.

They run around 130 pezzutos.
