Ok! Well after much diliberation, I decided to order my MR-8! Im pumped about this machine. though halopete was putting up the strongest (and by strongest i mean weakest) argument against the MR-8 ive ever heard, I still belive that the MR-8 is for me. Im a one man band looking for ease in didgital recording...but i still want to edit on a PC. Either way I got it for $279 and free shipping from silentdrummer.com and free shipping. Sweet deal...now to the survey.

Whats the most time you have been able to record on the Flash Card?

I haven't hit a hard limit. The tunes I'm working on are in the three to four minute range and I'll usually use four tracks before archiving to a PC. The MR-8 is really laid out to be a four track, anyway. Track 5/6 is meant to a place to bounce the first four tracks if you need more (although it is also great for recording a stereo track from a guitar effects unit, or a synth, etc.) Track 7/8 is then meant to be used for the final mix.

So back to your question, as long as you remember to delete the "undo" file, you should be able to use all eight tracks for a three minute tune, longer if you basically work with four tracks. A bigger card would really be handy for simulating virtual tracks - individual takes could be saved sequentially on an unused track, up to the limit of the card.

The real "short answer", is that you get about 24 minutes total time (divided however you use it) at CD quality on the included cad.

dont forget the 2 seconds!

What he said! Actually when my card is empty, the display shows 24 min. 02 sec. Once I learned to delete unused, I haven't had any problems with running out of time.
