mastering my own tracks

well i dont have a manager or some one to master my tracks but i master them myself but i'm not impressed with the qaulity , i use the program - cool edit pro 2.0 and a behringer mike .

so anybody that good tut on mastering with cool edit pro would be glad if u could share it with or give me link to one .

the music genre is rap

and also my mike is connected directly to the sound card hope thats not a prob

Do some reading on this site and others.

And yes, plugging your mic straight into the soundcard will be a problem. Especially if it's a Soundblaster or some other example of the finest quality that you obviously demand...

Actually I think you are confusing mastering with recording. Mastering is the last stage in producing a CD.

You record your music to something like CEP, AA, Cubase etc, then you mix things, make it balanced and after that the 'mastering' happens, which is optimising the sound and edit songs together, making fade ins or outs when neccesary, put 2, 3 or whatever seconds between the songs add ID's and things like that.
