1996 Martin DM with Fishman Matrix, other additions

This is a Martin DM dreadnaught acoustic guitar. I bought this new in 1996. At the time it was among the first Martin "road series" line of guitars ever (they were officially introduced in 1997). I didn't have the money for a D-18 so I bought this one. It sounded great then and it still does today. It has a satin finish on the whole guitar instead of gloss. It has a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. It has a nice simple herringbone rosette. The spruce top has a light even flaming I have not seen on another DM ever.

I have used this guitar extensively on the road and in the studio. It has played in hundreds of shows and hundreds of studio sessions. It has never let me down and always sounds great. It has had regular professional setups and has had a Fishman Acoustic Matris Natural installed with a built in pre amp. This uses a 9 volt battery which is inside the guitar, and placed somewhere easy to reach. It also has a strap pin installed on the heel for using a strap live, as well as a pick holder. Years ago I had the pickguard removed because I thought it made the guitar sound even better in the studio. This guitar is set up to go out and play on the road today.

As I said, this guitar has been played...alot. A whole lot. There are numerous wear marks and little dings from a guitar that has earned it's place in a professional rig. The back of the neck has waxy gloss buildup which has started coming off. The neck is satin finished originally, so all of this could be easily removed, I just like it this way. There are no breaks or cracks in the wood, though, anywhere. It's completely structurally sound. The fretboard has wear in places, mostly open chord positions, and most noticably a small divot at the b string first fret, where you play a C chord....I guess I've played C alot. The frets are in about 7/10 shape. Plenty left for most players. It's only 9 years old, but it has the look and feel of a vintage guitar. It also has the big open sound of one. A beautiful big Martin tone.

Includes the original Martin hardshell case. It's worn, but solid and very functional.

This guitar was recorded on the songs here:

I'm putting this here first, before going to ebay. LOTS of pics are at link below, email me if interested. $400 +shipping (from 42544), which is quite a deal for all that's here. I'll split Paypal fees if you want to go that route. Only reason for selling is that I have replaced it with a new Taylor and don't have room for extra guitars, I only keep what I play. And frankly, I'd rather it go to someone will play it and love it like I have. I will also consider trades.

Just an update on what is with this guitar.

The strings are new, I also will put a boxed set of the coated DR strings in with it, and a tan leather strap. I will also build you a cable of whatever length you need to go with it.

Just thought you might like to know,. I am ordering some RED tolex just for a 'special' project, and was just thinking you might like to trade or something,.....

Just a thought,.... really could use the $ but,.... whatever,... I am ordering it anyway,.....

also just got an original Greenback that I was thinking of using,.... we'll see what's up when the cab is finally a reality before I decide,....

Anyway,.... Thanks Mike...

Steve

When you get that done please let me know, email me or something. And let me know how it sounds...cause you know that's what I like. Red with a Greenback sounds kickin! We can talk $$ when it's a reality!

Mike,... I also have several other choices in the way of speakers,... some 10", alnicos, a JBL120, an Eminence legend, a couple of Rocket 50 Celestions, and others,.... as well as tons of different varieties of tubes,.... as you well know,... all have an effect on the end tone, and loudness,... and if you use a stomp box in front, who knows,... have 3 more in the works now,... then a few specials like ..... a RED one,..... I am going to try a couple with a 10", and a 6" together to see how they are,....

I will let you know when it is getting close on the red one...

Thanks Steve! Lemme know.

This guitar has less than a day to go and no bids, so if it goes, it's going cheap. So sad for such a great sounding and playing guitar. It's at $350 with no reserve and no bids, so if you're using a crappy import acoustic, here's a cheap chance to move to a very pro sounding guitar. The proof is in my recordings.
