Hi,
I want to take the 8 line outs from my TSR-8 into my Swissonic AD24 convertor (I know, how dare I) for the added tracks/flexibility in digital, however the TSR-8 has unbalanced rca outputs and my convertor only accepts balanced xlr ins. What are my options for making this conversion?

Great! So if I removed the jumpers then I would just need an eight channel unbalanced rca to XLR snake is that right? Thanks Zee..

Is that right? I have no idea :)... that's what in the manual. Page 10 has rca/xlr cable connecting/wiring diagrams... follow it, I guess
also, for general info you can take a look at this page

Thanks for your help! I've got some reading to do, I've never made cables before, does anyone know where I can get some quality cable/connectors?

check this ...see there XLT-to-RCA (make sure you get the right male or female XLR connectors, I've seen them being confused all the time :)
From what I read these cables look right for your situation. You need two wire shielded cable, XLR - Pin 2 - hot, then double check the manual description.... there are two 'configurations' there.
As for where to buy parts in case you want to make cables... I buy parts always in local music store... just go to the "wall" where all the crap is hanging and get what I need :)
On line? Most on-line music/gear stores have connectors and some cables usually available... it does not turn out much cheaper thouh comparing to buying pre-made cables if you buy on-line. Or maybe I don't know the 'right place' ???...
As for parts quality - it depends who you ask. I've used Hosa cables with no problems and I've made many cables of mostly ProCo parts .... I don't know, it all worked for me just fine.
hosa cables here - nobody beats HOSA ...LOL :D
ProCo bulk Parts here - this is the brand I usually buy at local mus.store when making some cables etc... works good for me

How do you know? :) ... by trying to find tech info ... which I've tried and and could not find any clear 'description' about it. If there's a chance to actually call the store where you buying from and try to get somebody who knows products, then you can get details...some packages have connection/wireing chart ... some don't ...
The good thing about that snake, it looks like it made of these parts: RCA and XLR ... which means that you can modify connections if needed after you test it and figure out how it is originally configured.

I think I'll try and contact Hosa in an e-mail and include the PDF as an attachment. Its worth a try!

2 snakes - 15 ft. 8-channels each.
XLR female to TRS
TRS to XLR male
They customized the XLR ends, reversing the hot and cold pins to work with a 1985 Otari.

It was between $200-250.
