Can anyone help?
am looking seriously at the Onyx to augment my small rig (Masterlink and
Benchmark MPS420 4x2 mixer). I would like to be able to record up to 8 channels
of WAV for later import into Sequoia and this looks promising.
My questions:
1- I do not wish to do more than simply have a monitor mix and really only want to record WAV files. My proposed setup is to retain the Benchmark and have it feed the 4 line inputs on the 400F (it can either output each channel or the 2ch mix of the 4 pres but w/o pan). THe Onyx would be attached to my Powerbook G4 500 (currently 384MB RAM and due for more) via FW but record to an external FWD plugged into the other FW port on the Onyx.
2-Does Traktion control the mix to the Masterlink (now in the backup mode) from the SP/DIF output of the Onyx?
3- Does Traktion record WAV files? If so, how are files larger than 2GB dealt with?
4- Is Traktion stable enough for such work? If it (or the Powerbook) freezes or crashes will the Masterlink continue to receive the lifesaving SPDIF?
5- As the goal is to drag the recorded WAVs into Sequoia, can any of you see any potential problems with all this?
Thanks!
