I'll stick my neck out on my opinion here.
The reason in my eyes why more windows machines are sold is the price difference. PC's are cheaper.
No doubt there.
BUT! I still chose to buy a Mac based around the fact that Apple builds their OS for their hardware and like wise chooses quality hardware(Batteries aside, EEEK!) to go with it.
Well yes and no, they do have a better box on the outside compared to others but reall they use the same stuff inside. In fact on the Pro models I have seen some that have raid hardware with limitation even the cheapest windows based hardware has So not so sure I agree with that. Maybe in some cases but if you look at the Imac, one of the reasons you cannot add hard drives is proabably because of the power supply size.
To me that means they made it to work so guys like me who hate setting stuff up can just work.
If you go to best buy, most windows machines, just work, if they didn't Apple would dominate the market like it does with Ipod, even though the IPod is more expensive than most mp3 players.
Its like a good friend of mine once said, You have to have the right size engine for the car your putting it in. If you had a four door all steel caddy from the 60's and put a escort 4 banger engine in it what good would it do?
The analogy fails in so many ways when comparing Apples to windows Pc. They both use the same intel processors (though pc uses amd as well which competition improves the breed and decreases the costs) The same hard drive, the same video cards the same just about everything, only the outside of the box is different, and the os differences are very minor It would be like two cars that are exactly the same, say a chevy and a gmc truck, only the outside box is different, and the display board in front of the steering wheel. They do the exact same thing
Your OS needs to be properly setup for your hardware. Of course it can be done with a PC but that mean I need to know how to do that, I don't and don't really want to.
And you don't think dell, hp, IBM, Sony etc do not set up their computer software and drivers to work with their hardware. They would be out of business if they didn't do that.
I built my own system, that means I have to make sure it is properly set up. But I am not the norm or in the 90 percent buying PCs, I build my own.
I wanna make music. So Mac is nice for me, but maybe not for you.
Or I could be insane. Lol
