Hey there, I was wondering if anyone else out there has had any problems connecting their fast track to pro tools.

here's the deal:
my fast track came with a demo of protools (i'm not sure if they all do).
i have installed both the demo and the necessary drivers for the usb interface and rebooted my laptop only to find that the fast track icon in my system tray has vanished. when i check the configuration settings for the device it says it's working properly, but then i try to open the protools demo and it comes up with this message that says "m-audio software cannot be found. make sure that the device is connected."

please help :(

I didn't know the fast track pro came with protools...

Mine didn't but when I had M-Powered I received a similar message it was looking for the Dongle. Once I installed that and rebooted the system it worked fine.

Yeah that's what i meant. the program is called Pro Tools M-Powered 7

i think the problem is stemming from the installation of the fast track's drivers, or some sound setting that i may be overlooking...

ewww M-Audio

I had the Fast Track for a while, and I couldn't get it to work with my laptop without popping no matter what! When I took it back the guy told me that some other customers had returned it for the same problem.

But I don't know anything about ProTools, sorry... I guess I just saw "M-Audio Fast Track" in the thread title and had to rant about it for a minute :p

Oh, but I do know that you need to start Windows with the Fast Track unplugged from the computer for it to show up.

Thanks for your help guys, but i juat spent the past three hours installing every possible combination of drivers off the m-powered disc and i finally got it to work!

now i hope i don't experience any problems in audio quality.....

I had the fast track for 1 day. I couldn't stand the sound quality so I took it back. But it did come with ableton live which I kept on my computer :D

Not true - at least on my PC. I boot with it plugged in and it works fine. Well, fine except for the crackling....
