I'm working with cool edit pro, using a couple small diaphram condensors into a pa mixer and then into the onboard soundcard in my computer... What do you think? Am I on the right track? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!
Killing Caulfield - Watch Your Language

Wow that is really good.I cant say i found anything wrong with that at all . Good work .

The overall tone of the song is boxy, especially the snare drum. The kick is a bit loud and boomy. The guitar and bass sound alright, but nothing special. However, this sounds pretty good compared to other recordings I've heard done with their computer's default soundcard.

a lot of energy and good playing, cool! I agree the song could use a little more punch and less boxyness. Try some additional compression, or raising the high end on that guitar in a good sounding frequency. Good start though

just an idea... that main riff may sound cool later in the song with some thick lead harmonies.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm always trying to get rid of that "boxyness"...right now im saving up for a firepod, that will be a hige improvment (hopefully), since i will be able to mess with everything separatly. The mixer im using is mono, so thats even more limiting. I've got to get rid of that boxy sound though... This weekend I'll probably try to mess with it some more. Thanks a lot!

PS, the only reason I havn't added any other guitar stuff in there is just because I don't really want to do stuff i can't play live, but I'll probably just end up seeing how a little somthing more would sound in there, and I'll probably give in and leave it there.

Hey ruined,

The drums as said previously sound a little boxy and the guitar needs to be bought forward in the mix, a few timing issues occur around the halfway mark, but yes keep at it!

Some more guitar in there would be very tasty as SnakeDude mentioned!

Thanx for sharing ruined!........."Punk it up!"

Gorty :)

I didn't mean for my post to sound snobby; rereading it I realize that I didn't include anything that could really help you improve the mix. I still can't offer better advice than the above posters, but I can back the Firepod up. I use it and really like it.
