linking two differnet mic preamps?

has anybody tried to link two mic preamps together. i have a "behringer mic200 tube preamp" and a "art mp studio v3 tube preamp." each has one tube inside. i wanted to know if linking both together would be harmful to the equipment, and would it make any difference in the sound?

It would make a difference to the sound alright. It would sound like a muddy ass.

Are you talking about running the output from one into the input for the second preamp, to get more "tubey." No you won't damage anything, but it'll probably sound like what Track Rat said

If you do it, make sure that you're using a line level input on your second pre.

If you mean daisy chaining them, then it's probably not a good idea. I can't usually think of having two preamps in the same signal flow chain other than for one reason:

You've recorded a track on a "neutral" or "flat" preamp and you'd like to pass it through a better one just to get it's individual sound. It happens more when studios receive home recorded tracks or tracks recorded at a "lesser" equipped studio. Of course the best thing is to track it on a good preamp the first time.

Another reason to do it is for really quiet mics (ribbons) on really quiet sources, where one preamp alone doesn't have the gain (or quiet gain) to boost the mic signal to acceptable levels.
