Thanks guys. It is what it is...

Henry - I used my Maton Custom elctro-acoustic through an SM57 (I couldn't be bothered to setup my Oktava SDC pair). It's quite heavily processed by the Waves Maserati Harmonics plugin, which gave it some shimmer and width. It's a beautiful sounding guitar that I haven't yet managed to record in all its glory.

I love the vocal but the guitar through a tin tube effect was almost unbearable with h/phones.

Hey, thanks rayc. I mixed this on my HD280s - maybe my hearing has lost a bit of top end - I'll see about some changes (this is turning into the clinic :D).

Don't forget to place a poll on your entry so people can vote. How else are we gonna find a winner folks? No poll included with your song means an invalid entry! Peace :)

As far as I'm aware, there can only be one poll on a thread, which is controlled by you, the thread starter.

Depending on my mood I find the original of this song by turns dreadful and wondrous, never something in between...

We can't include a poll in our posts.

How did it take you 13 pages to not realize that people can't put a poll in their posts????

There's a couple of interesting takes on this song in here. It's a song that's been getting increasingly overblown with every cover version, so good to see that punctured somewhat - I never thought I'd hear the song reinterpreted in the way Greg and Jonny have done it :D

Had a couple of spare hours this afternoon, so figured I'd give it a quick go myself. Had designs on adding a few instruments into the mix, but as it is I got lazy and settled for writing a different verse, messing about with the other lyrics and just backing it with an acoustic.

It's rough as old boots and I'm not sure I got a single Hallelujah in tune, but it is what it is. And for the sake of posterity, here it is:
