Don't worry about voting. This contest goes FOREVER!!! Muhahahaaaa...:)

Apologies for necroing this thread, but I finally got round to doing another version of this (it's been going round my head for months). I'd love more time to track better guitar and generally mix it better, but my freedom is soon to be once again curtailed when my better half and baby return from holidays. However, mix comments are most welcome and I'll get round to doing more when I can.

Wow, that's zany. :D

Sounds like a cross between brit-pop and motown. Lol. Very nice. I like the sounds. I'd like the drums more up front. Good stuff though.

Love it! I always love your style, Johny. This is great. I agree though, more drums. They seem to sound good, just need to hear more.

Thanks guys :D.

This is the first time I've successfully used backing vocals (judicious use of Reatune required!). The quality of this is head and shoulders over my last recording - I think it's mostly down to the new room I'm in in my new house. It's less square and a little smaller so therefore a larger proportion is treated now.

The drums are as they come out of Addictive Drums in default settings. I had a little go at mixing them, but it made them sound rubbish so I just let them be. It's pretty much the same midi loop on repeat - had I more time, I'd go through and edit hit by hit. As it is, it sounds very repetitive, so I kept them a little hidden.

One problem I have with it is the mix sounds too clean and clinical. I think I need to learn how to use saturation (distortion, warmth, whatever you want to call it).

WOW! It's been a while since I was last here after starting this forever-ongoing thread for Hallelujah. Gotta say I'm impressed with this Jesse, Nice job man!! One of the best I've heard here yet. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Luke :)
