Here's a somewhat recent shot of my place. I've added a 3rd lcd monitor and a new board though.

the one in the picture is a Mackie 16x8x2. I replaced it with an A&H GL2400/24. Not as studio friendly as the Mackie was, more of a live board, but a whole bunch more reliable. I'm figuring out routing workarounds as I go.

I see a R2R:cool: I love em. Most younger HR enthusiasts don't even know what they are.;):D

Unless they're of the indie/hipster variety, in which case anything recorded on R2R is solid gold and anything recorded Digital is dishonest and shameful, regardless of the musical qualities.

Sorry, I'm bitter from being forced to interact with stupid people more often than I'd ever wish upon anyone :p

Putting the lava lamps on-top of your monitors - that's brave!

I've spent most of today clearing my studio out in preparation for some big changes. Mental note to self - don't use so many cable ties next time!

I don't have the recording gear in yet (just ordered a Firepod, and am researching mics) but here's where my studio will be. There's also another bedroom behind the wall with the piano that will serve as a 2nd tracking room.

I love that console type piano. Pretty cool.

Look into PZM mics and the ones from Crown are great.

When I had an acoustic piano, I used one [PZM] and it always gave me perfect piano sound, no matter the placement. I taped it under the lid or front bottom cover or just placed it to the right of the pedals, horizontally [not taped] and it always sounded great.

Just a suggestion..;)

OMG:eek: Is that a Fender "Showman" amp? I haven't seen one since I sold mine in 68'. Loved that amp. Bought the first one in Sacramento Ca in 62, The speaker is mounted in a double baffle with a "tone ring". I just designed my soffit mounted monitors with twin 10" "tonerings". Those amps had the best vibrato I ever heard. I believe it was called "amplitude modulation". The 15" JBL actually moved in and out when the vibrato was on. Looked absolutely cool. Not to mention the sound. Sold it and got a DUAL showman. Sucked compared to the single showman, but it sure was louder. Had to have the volume for the big shows I was playing at the time....like at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Even then, I had to upgrade volume wise to a Vox SuperBeatle amp. geeezus was that thing loud.:D

lol, nope. It's a Super Sonic and it's vintage is around 2006. It's actually a friend's, so I don't really know the specs (I'm a bass player) but one channel is based on a Bassman and the other I think is based on a Twin Reverb. I could be way off on the 2nd channel. He used to leave it over here because it is way heavier than it looks, sure sounds nice though.

If I had a bunch of disposable money for this studio project, I would get one Supersonic and one Vox AC30 with Blueback Celestions. I would be covered for everything except heavy metal... Oh well, I'm sure when I eventually record a band, they will have guitar amps they want to have recorded anyway.
