Is that a frickin plasma on your wall????
Dude you are one sick puppy. Be careful, your laptop is about to fall off the desk! Nice looking set-up!

thanks dudes ....not finished yet i'll post some new ones when i'm all done

KUSTOM-KEV,

Love that red, man...the lighting, too.

You got any treatment going on in there, or is that the 'not finished yet' part? Great looking environment, nonetheless.

Who is the attractive blond in the photo back of the board? :D

My girlfriend loves the red walls too, I think it gives off energy in a small room I constantly try to be creative in. I did did the booth and ceiling of the control room in aurlex .....its in the basement of my home so i didn't have to worry about the walls so much....and as far as that sexy blonde that would be the very beautiful Vida Guerra.....I call her being there "musical insperation"...

I wish this thing came in white with a blue screen. that would look good.

Well here's my home studio - It's in my basement. The biggest problem that I'm dealing with right now are are the low ceilings. Thankfully the space itself is pretty big so there's room enough to spread out. No separate control room but at this point I'm used to working without one.

All of the gear is pretty simplistic/generic...but hey, it's paid for! Hope you enjoy! Matt

The latest incarnation of the control room. New absorbtion panels. They worked better than I wanted them to I think;) My have top get a sub now. We will see how it goes.

I swear that the room is not that purple!!! Its really like a plumb color. When I take a picture with a flash I loose a bit of man hood :o

One more at another angle. Made the panels curved. 1/4 insh peg board with some small chain and a couple S hooks and walla, curved panels.

Pretty easy way to do it.

Thanks Guys! I took these pictures right after I cleaned the joint up, it's usually a disaster. I am so lucky that this is a nice big room. When we bought this house the agreement was that I could have the entire basement for my music stuff and my wife could have the entire second floor for her business stuff. Somehow, because of that agreement the washer and dryer are now considered my "gear" and my wife never goes near them anymore. Hmm.

Looking good! What kind of near field monitors are those? I had Auralex in my last studio and I did the same type of thing - I attached the slabs of foam to pegboard then hung the boards like hanging a picture. Really simple and there's nothing glued to the walls.

I really dig the curves though!

Interestingly enough my wife and I use curved pegboard for product displays that we take to different craft fairs. We sell little pocket mirrors and while brainstorming ways to display them came up with the idea of bending a piece of pegboard. Check out the pic below - I'm the guy that looks like Tony Soprano with glasses.

WARNING: This is not a studio picture below!

Thanks. The monitors on botom are M-audio BX8's and the ones on top are Tannoy Proto-j's. The proto-j's are un-powered and lack bottom end, but they are good to do an A/B with. I usually flick them on with the BX8's to see if I have any gross low mids lurking in the mix. Because of thier position to my ears they pump up the upper lows and lower mids enough to give me an Idea what my mix would sound like on a honkier system :D

Aww hell I just love stacked speakers! there I admitted it  :(

.

Ya that 1/4 peg board is heavy stuff! I really had to put my knee into the back of it to bow it down to the point I could hook the chains.

Right now I have them hanging on a cable running the length of the wall so I can move them.

Don't forget to do the laundry ;)

Nice setup, man. Looks like you have some good treatment happening around the mix area. How's the MS16 treat you? I almost bought one. I did just get a 32 to mixdown on, though. :) :) :)

Might as well join in. Obviously no room treatment yet but I am debating building another area in the house and doing it right. Space is a definite concern for me. What you see in the pic is the amount of room I have :o

i really dig tannoy monitors - i had an old pair that i mixed on for years. stupidly i sold them when i thought i was getting out of the music thing a little while back. these little haflers that i have now are cool. i added a sub and things seem to translate pretty well.

Thanks! All the treatment is new within the last 2 weeks and it's made a marked improvement. I'd put more panels up but then I wouldn't know what to do with my posters of the cure and bride of frankenstein.

my tape machine...is a work in progress. the last piece of the puzzle is
cabling, which i'm ordering this evening - 20 feet of 16 channel mogami snake cable + 32 RCA plugs (the 85-16b is unbalanced) + 32 TRS plugs = soldering excitement! i actually enjoy making snakes and cables. it reminds me of my first (and only, thankfully) recording studio internship many years ago. the owner of the studio and i would sit around making harnesses, drum snakes & split snakes while listening to 'powerage' by ac/dc or the who. good times!
