Hey, don't knock samson.

I use an MPL2242 "live" 4-buss mixer for what little "on road" stuff I've done over the years, and it's EXTREMELY quiet.

Not sure about their other stuff, but that mixer I like.

nice....say....got any more of that foam left that i can use so blue bear and co. can quit laughing at me? lol

i like samson too....i had a falling out with their tech department a while back for not sending the parts needed to repair my monitor after a diode blew. so i'm on the fence with samson..if something else goes wrong with the monitors then they're being tossed out the window

what software are you using to edit the pictures? try shrinking the image size to small but not squinting. i did that and changed the image quality to low.

This is the first thread I ever looked at when I joined this site. It's kind of neat to see how some of the studios here have changed, and really enlightening to see how you guys set them up... I get inspired everytime I read through here!

Thanks!:D

I know, I know....

Hello thane1200

That SHOULD be your first priority. The two shelf units on the desk top should be moved in favor of the monitors. I mean, how do you determine a stereo image with this configuration? Also, mixing in a corner is the WORST place you can mix because that is where room modes terminate.

I know this is not the optimal set-up but i am limited to the space. There is a window on the wall directly right of the desk as well as a breaker box, thus I am unable to use that wall. The wall directly left of my turntables has a closet which I cannot block. And lastly the wall behind my turntables is very narrow and has a door. Also the MKII's are currently being used for DJ monitors and do no good on the desk anyway. If I get a blueprint of my room posted maybe we can come up with a better idea.

Thanx

Thane,

Rick is right in that your placement of your little white speakers there will probably hurt your perception of the stereo image, but here is an idea for you. A pair of cheap, $35 wall mounts for those speakers. They are small enough that the units they have in Lowes or Home Depot should support them no problem, and mount those speakers to the side of your hutch, facing you. This way you're not giving up valuable desk space, but increasing your ability to perceive stereo imaging.

Just an idea... and a not so expensive one either...

You keep forgetting one important thing:

Dance music is MONO! (which is obviously what he's producing)
In a club or bar, there are way too many speakers to have a stereo image. Also, you don't wanna dance near those speakers where the vocals come out, while others dance near the speakers where the lead synth comes out. That'll be weird, right?

Experienced dance music producers hence produce in mono.
I therefore don't really see a big problem with thane1200' setup.

good one!

I've never thought to do that. Good idea! Thanx guys, I know that BestBuy and WalMart both have those for under 25$.

> stereo < is our friend

I just whipped up a quick lay-out of my room. This shows how limited the space is. Any suggestions on re-arrangement, monitor placement, acousitcs, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks to frederic for the speaker mount idea. Any other input would be great.

~thanx for the help
