BTW, don't get sucked into the "gear slut" mentality. Select and buy gear you need, that would be useful to you. Just because your friend Bob has a fancy $1500 compressor, doesn't mean it would be worth that much to you and your recordings.

Been there done that, had a lot of gear I didn't need for a long time.

and yes, the desk is quite high. I built it by chopping the top off of a cheap 'hutch' desk and then screwing a big ass pine door on as the surface.

any idea where i can get the rack mounting rails for the digi 001 like in your setup cus i cant mount mine

You guys have some nice setups here; hopefully when I'm done with school I can finally dedicate some funds to a proper build. I've been a DJ for 6-7 years and now that I'm getting into production/recording (electronic music) this is what I've thrown together. I picked up the desk at WalMart for about $80, works 'OK' for now, but I have no place for my Monitor One MkII's, or my 'rack;' it would also be nice to fit 2 computer monitors up there, one for wave editing and the other for tracking.

That SHOULD be your first priority. The two shelf units on the desk top should be moved in favor of the monitors. I mean, how do you determine a stereo image with this configuration? Also, mixing in a corner is the WORST place you can mix because that is where room modes terminate.

actually, if he snapped the pictures with the monitors powered off, his camera wouldn't have been confused by the lighting and taken a decent picture.

Or, just tell the camera (if you can) not to auto-flash, but flash regardless.

Nice set up. The only suggestion I can give is to reverse the possition of your monitors. To where the lights are on the outside.
