LDC mic's for Elec. Guitars on The Tonight Show???

I have noticed recently that the Tonight Show with Jay Leno (a talk show in the US) uses some kind of LDC on guitar amps all the time. I am wondering if anyone knows what they are.

I notice them all the time, too. They seem to use the same mics all the time, and they appear to be Shure KSM 44's.
 
This is a good electric guitar mic? Never tried one. Thanks, RD
 
Shure KSM series mics seem to be rather popular on live sets lately. I've seen quite a few Austin City Limits and another performance show on PBS using Shure KSM series mics on stage. Most recently, I saw Allison Kraus and Union Station perform live with a few. Sounded great! Also saw the Dixie Chicks do the same on a live concert on NBC a while back. The KSM series seem to be quite the bang for the buck ... thousand dollar sound without the worry of carrying multiple $2800 U87s on stage.
