I 'd like if you'd give my latest mp3 a listen - it was actually written a long time ago but has never been recorded (except live) so I thought I'd give it a go. It's a little unconventional with the guitar break at the end, and perhaps a little long, (because of this - in fact I considered omitting the lead break altogether), and i wonder too if it ever really builds enough or if the choruses have the extra presence they probably should have... Anyway those are just some of my own reflections - I would be interested to hear what anyone else thinks. Thanks.

Not a bad tune my friend. My take on your recording is this. The drum machine pattern is a little busy. It gets a little old as it keeps looping (the cymbals especially) but at the same time their level needs to come up.The verb that's on them makes them a little too distant as well. The vocal is very good. Again, I hate to sound overly critical but for my tastes, a bit too much verb on it. The lead on the end's not bad but its level is a little hot.

Thanks Track Rat for your time - yeah I thought that about the drums - that pattern was actually created when I first started learning about sequencing and was using Evolution Lite - it was limited compared to cakewalk. However I dug it out recently and sort of liked it - although it is, as you say, busy - so decided to go with it rather than building a new drum track. as regards levels - do you mean the cymbals need to come up or all the drums? The cymbals I guess - I can do that anyway. I keep reducing the verb on the vocal but obviously not enough - when i really reduce it, thought, I think it starts to sound a bit flat. I agree the end lead might be a little too hot. Sometimes you only hear these things after somebody else points them out!

Cheers
