Kurzweil, what's happening?

I think this BBS is visited most by "USA-people" but I'll ask this anyway:

does anyone over here have an idea about what's happening with Kurzweil in Europe ?

I live in Belgium and own some of their (great but rather expensive) gear.

But half a year ago (or so) it seemed they were "selling out".
The German distributor seems to have closed (and his stock was sold rather cheap, thanks for that).

But now... It seems there is no import in Germany nor anywhere "near Belgium".

All dealers tell me "Kurzweil, sorry, not available right now".

And I'm looking for a PC2 X. But when there is no distribution this will be hard (not to mention technical support should things break).

So: anyone any "inside story" or "rumours" to share on "Kurzweil in Europe" ?

TIA !

Have you checked here?

BMI Groothandel BV
Rhone 40

Hague
Netherlands
(+31) 70-3202425
(+31) 70-3201819 fax
info@bmi.nl

And I would assume you could get it serviced, at least here

Firma Rolf Lewe Music-Engineering (service only - no distribution)

Germany
(+49) 2831 1330966

Those are the Belgian and German distributors. Just ask them if or who their dealers are.

I know about them....

Problem seems to be (typically Belgian ?): there is one "large music store" in Belgium which is "part" of BMI.

This results in a few things: other dealers don't "like" to do business with BMI. Other dealers don't get "good deals" at BMI. This "one store" seems to be the only one able to sell Kurzweil, which is "no good" since their price is "the only price". And even this one store doesn't seem to be able to deliver Kurzweil at this moment... So BMI can't deliver ?

So that's why I'm a bit "worried"...
Certainly also because the German distributor closed rather suddenly.

Thanks for the info anyway !

I hope Kurzweil get their problems fixed over here...

i'm in austin, texas and any kurzweil i see at a music store here is always a "used keyboard"....i guess they're hard to come by everywhere...

Mucho$$$

That's because no one can afford a new one...

No, it's because they quit making them. Young-Chang, the Korean company that made them went bankrupt sometime last year.

Kurzweil is alive and well and continuing to manufacture the finest "real" sounds on this planet. Needless to say Young-Chang could use a boot up there ass for a few reasons which I wish not to go into. :p

:) :) :) HAVE A NICE DAY:) :) :)

To be honest my dear pal

support at kurzweil is still up and running

They helped me out a great deal with vast programming and new operating systems for my K2500s

The only reason why they are so expensive is because they are so good

I work with software that remotely controls any screen I have in my kurzweil in a bigger screen on my huge monitor which simplifies things for a great deal

I believe kurzweil - music (Young Chang) is busy on new stuff ( they are always silent for a while and then come out with astonishing stuff)

Even if you work with virtual instruments, the controlling possibilities on for example my k2500 are enormous

I played a bit with the 2600 ... a great machine as well with a huge amount of possibilities

To bad they sold kurzweil music to Young Chang ... but I still have trust in there products

If anyone needs krz files / kurzweil linking and splitting programs / settings or vast techniques

give me a beep
