Why do you guys even worry about that rep crap, anyway?

Jesus. Do you guys have any comprehension the sheer brevity of negative reps I have accumulated through the years? :D

If I cried over every single neg rep I got ... I'd need to be put in a straight jacket. Shit, I'd have to hire a secretary just to sort through them all. Get over it. It's a little kids game, similar to playing tag in the school yard.

Im not worried about "The Rep" Im bothered by the fact that He felt compelled to say that my Comment was "The Dumbest of the week". Which is just Nonsense. I mean im only stating that The Guitar used is a Martin D28, which im sure you can agree is a vital part of the sound along with the microphone and the room and other factors. I just dont see what the problem is!

On a side note, he sang the vocals through an AKGC12. Good luck affording one of those.

Well shit ... that's a pretty nice and gracious comment compared to some that I get. :D

I would feel honored by that. I mean ... "the Dumbest of the week?" That's quite an honor when you consider how many posts are made in one week. I would say "thank you," and just try harder next time to make the dumbest post "of the month." Now we're talkin.' :D

Also, what chessrock said is right on.

The best thing you can do for acoustic guitar recording is get a great sounding guitar.

After that, almost any decent LDC or SDC mic will do the job. The MSH-1Os would be fine.

Bingo!! Johnny Cash played Martins over the years. Mostly D35's and D45's.

And over time, the more I record the more that I am learning that the source is much more important than the signal chain. (once you reach a basic level of quality, of course) On my inexpensive set-up, my acoustic guitar tracks sound good because of my 25 year old D35.

Oh, and IMHO, YMMV, etc. Using a Taylor to get this sound is like squeezing an apple to get orange juice. Nothing wrong with Taylors. They're just a different animal from a good Martin.
