JBL LSR25R's or Event PS6?

Hi all,
was wondering about the JBL's. Has anyone used these... is there much of a bass response on them. I have read that they sound very accurate. There is no place in town here that has a pair. I have heard the Events they sound good. I see the price has dropped on the JBL's now and I could get a pair for $500, seems like almost half price. I also read good things about the KRKs but there is not a pair to be found here either to test. My studio is in a small bedroom maybe 11x12.. do you think the JBL's would be a better deal than the Event PS6's. Thanks for your thoughts.
 
As I have posted quite a number of times........
The 25LSR's are becoming more and more a 'standard' in studios and post production houses, especially for surround mixing.
In their price range they are simply the best, most accurate, and most powerful option, by a very large margin.
If I had to choose a pair of small nearfields to record / mix an album with, regardless of price, I'd choose the LSR25's.

I can't find much on these monitors...
They sound good, at 500 a pair, that is almost half price, where'd you see this price?
Sjoko2...do you know if these would be surfice for hiphop style music?
I've been considering the event 20/20 bas, but I remember your advice on them, and it got me thinking... Can these be bought in Canada at all?
I'd like to find out more about them, more peoples oppinions etc.

I'm gonna take your word for it... Is their any reviews of these, it seems odd still how these are so good and yet so unexposed.
They most likely wont have these around me so where can i order? where did you see them for 500$ that's inhuman.
 
This review I found seems to be the most thurrow...It's actually got me thinking this might not be the right pair of monitors for me.
I don't have a lack of room/space etc, and this review really makes it clear that these monitors lack bass, I'm producin hiphop so I'm deffinitley wondering about this... sjoko2, I'd really like to know what you think about this, do you still feel they would be the best buy? or atleast for someone like me?

why don't you audition a few different pairs? At least then your own ears would tell you what you think is the best to work on for you. The 25's are small monitors, extremely good value and accurate for what they are. If you mainly mix things with an extended bass response, they might not be for you, even though, what would be in that price range? Mackies perhaps, but that's about it, and you'd have to be careful with the volume.
Its an important purchase, so find somewhere to listen to different pairs (with YOUR music), or even better, a shop that will let you audition a couple of pairs at home.

but, there's not really anywhere around me to audition a variety, i think i could probably try out the mackies, and reveals, mayby a few others, but i dought the JBL's... but a pair of these monitors at 500 when their regularly around 1000 a pair is quite a deal. I don't need earthquake type bass, but this review makes it seem like it's lacking in this area. It sounds like I'm not even gonna hear bass really...?

I don't have any of MY music made yet, would trying out a regular cd be okay...?

what did you mean I'd have to be carefull with the volume of the mackies...?

I mixed one CD with them as nearfields, and I found that their characteristics change somewhat depending on volume. Which means, you work on a mix, turn it up or down, and find it doesn't sound quite the same.

I think you'd be very surprised with the amount and clarity of the 25's low end, but like I said, hearing is believing.
I think I just noticed someone else posting something about having bought a pair, perhaps you ought to ask him (also in the mixing and mastering forum)

But I'm no expert...

I'm pretty new to mixing, but thought they were the best all around for me. Their size (I didn't want huge monitors), price (at the time there was a $100 rebate on two, and MARS was selling them for $299 a piece = $500 after rebate) and sound (I was able to hear them at MARS) all factored into the purchase.

I find the bass remarkably good for 5" speakers. I don't really do hip hop, but you could always get them and add a sub at a later date. Hell, then get 3 more 25's and you're ready for 5.1 mixing!!!!
