I am looking for a different mic i have a Rode NTK and a SM7b And i have 2 options (in the same price) AT 4050 and AT 4047 Which is A better choice? Please help me out!!

They are both different from each other and from the two you have.
What do you want to do that you can't do now?
If you are just looking to expand, you should think about a pair of sdc's.

Thanks for the reply, i just record Vocals Male,Female, small Choir and very little Nylon string Guitar. So i want a replacement for my TLM103.

The AT4047 and AT4050 are quite different to my ears. The 4047 is the only transformer coupled mic in the 40xx line. The 4050 has more of the AT family resemblence.

Both are great mics. The 4047 is one of my favorite mics regardless of price.

I find the 4047 to be a sweet vocal mic, the 4050 is good at almost everything (especially having a pair hanging around)
What are you using now to record acoustic?

Well,i am planning to record vocals.Considering that i own a NTK and a SM7 i am looking for something different for different voices.

I just went ahead and bought the AT4047...final price after dickering...$275...and it sounded really nice going though a mackie...I havent heard it through the Neve 1073...API 512....and Avalon 737 models on my UX8.

Where did you find this mic for $275?

Guitar center in Overland Park KS...it was used...but never used...still wrapped...they even bought a crappy Nady from me for $50.

WOW! Insane Price,I bought the 4050 for $370 (Used) That was the best that i could find right now.

I even sent in the warranty card...I hope it is still good since it says used on the reciept....the C2000b comes next week so that should be my last mic for a while.

From what Ive read its bright and accurate...kind of thing that might be better on steel string guitars.

Cool, I am trying to find out what would be better to add for my Mic collection,I was thinking about a pair of SDC's any suggestions? The best bang for the buck?

MXL 603s can be had cheap and they do fine...AT4041 seem to be a top performer and shouldnt break the bank either.

Ok, Here is some Important info,I bought the 4050 i record some clips for the same song and same Preamp with the Following Mics:
Neumann TLM103
Shure KSM32
Rode NTK
Shure SM7b
Audio Technica AT4050

For My Voice I lked Better the 4050 Over the TLM103 and the KSM32 i have to took away the NTK because my voice is a little Brigther,so i think that this is a great mic for Dark Voices.

Ill be recieving a new HD camcorder after the first of the month...I might do a shootout on video.
