to mix/edit music with one (a single) studio monitor? I have the KRK Rokit Powered 5 Generation 2 http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/KRK-Rokit-Powered-5-Generation-2?sku=482825 or KRK RP-8 Rokit Powered 8 http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.co...Powered-8-Reference-Studio-Monitor?sku=602314 in mind. If it isn't recommended, I'm also interested in these http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Alesis-M1Active-520-USB-Studio-Monitors?sku=580881. What do you think? Any and all help is appreciated.

Editing is probably no big deal with one but I'd save my dimes and get a pair for mixing.

just my thoughts but if you can't get both right now, maybe you can set up a home stereo to get ya by until you can afford em...Not ideal but better (imho) than tryin to mix thru one monitor.

I'll probably end up taking that route (home stereo speakers are what I'm using). What do you think of the Alesis 520 usb? Also, I'm using a usb mic...would they interfere with eachother?

A) You can't mix stereo without a stereo monitoring system.

(EDIT) Let me reword that -- You can not hear what you need to hear to mix in stereo without a stereo monitoring system. (/EDIT)

B) Subs usually cause more problems than they're worth. Unless your space is reasonably properly treated (that does NOT mean a bunch of foam thrown up all over the walls) and you're quite competent and system calibration, I'd very highly recommend skipping the sub.
