Is anyone here Nice with cleaning up poor quality acapellas?

one of the guys in my group moved to miami, and in a rush recorded 8 bars for his intro on our album, and i have no idea how the vocals came out so terrible but as of right now, we cant use it...

and i cant get in touch with him because his phone is disconnected..and we want to move foward so we can get this album out in may!

but if anyone thinks they can clean up the wav...please help! ive tried and have had moderate success, but enough to use it on the album!

Hey, what mic and preamp did you use? Sounds like the mic was a good mic but the rapper was too close and i can tell there wasn't a pop filter in front of the mic. I know you can't rerecord it now, but for future reference, please use a pop filter. If you played with the pop filter and distance from the mic, you could get a good sound out of that mic for rap. I did something to the vocals but i gotta put it on yousendit. Peritus already did it so if you are satisfied, i won't even post what i did. I don't think i could really do much to get rid of the distortion caused by being too close to the mic. Imma listen to some more of yall stuff tho. Peace out homie!

i have no idea what he used LOL..he usualy has excellent quality, i mean crystal clear..i dont understand what he did wrong...he was in the process of moving..but he used to have a full vocal booth built in his house.


please post up anything you guys can do..! i am in class at the moment but i will check it out soon as i get home!
 
I'm uploading the file right now. I got the before and after. It's about 7mb and i got dial up so, it's gonna be a little while. Guess i'll eat, take a nap, watch a movie, wash my car, clean the house, wash some clothes, and learn everything about audio mastering. Maybe by then , half of it will be done!!! :)

wow great job both of you...

i download them and tried them in the mix..

i ended up tying 2 tracks of Tone's wav....
applying a lil reverb on a track, and leaving one track as is, and a lil compression...

and tried putting it in the mix..and it really sounded pretty decent, i think we will be able to use this now thanks to you guys!

i will upload a really quick rough mix of the verse with my vocals and one of our other mc's arsenal
 
War's crew usually has damn good mixes of their material so this situo shocked me personally.

haha shocked me too

but, C-Gully actually sent me a message and left his new number, so hopefully we can get him to redo it!

im probably gonna redo my vocals as well.

im going to keep trying things, because our producer still isnt happy with the mix...
 
i used i think a MXLv93m on my vocals, either that or an at3035.

I think Gully has a Rode NT1a, but his vocals are usually the cleanest out of the group..i dont know what went wrong. I dont think he used his pop filter, cause he was in the middle of moving from Maryland to Miami and had everything pretty much boxed up for shipping

and Arsenal has a MXLv67g i think
