why do people allways say i dont own it so i can not treat it ?

i made some free standing bass traps like this

cut a 600mm square piece of mdf ,cut it into 2 triangles, this will make the top and bottom.
i then cut another piece 1200x600 in half to leave 1200x300 these made the back.

i cut 1200x600 fidgid rockwool intwo 8 triangles and stacked them inside

once it was full to the top

i covered the front of the trap and down both sides to keep any loose bits of fiber glass in

stand it in the corner ,one free standind bass trap that can move when you do.

most of the cuts were made by the loacal timber merchants when buying the timber for free

Simply because "Room treatment" sounds so permanent. In life there are a number of things one hears that seem initially overwhelming (like parenthood or marriage or work or buying a house........or room treatment !) then you consider it and discover it's actually not as bad as you thought. It may well be true that you never get a second chance to make a first impression but in my head, first impressions have oh so rarely been permanent.

I don't know what exactly is everyone's point. Someone suggested room treatment, my mind went to making the room an actual studio room, covering every wall. So, I responded that I can't do much about that, meaning I can cover some parts, but since I am not the only one living here, I cannot cover all the walls with foam. Then, from the next reply, I understood that I was told to cover the corners. So, I asked where to buy them, where (Height) and how to place them.

I have no idea what's everybody's problem.

Replies:
1)"I love how newbs always respond to room treatment like you just asked them to down a bottle of Buckley's. The most important thing, but they will find any excuse to not do it. I don't know, is it because it's not shiny like a new piece of equipment (that will likely sound like shit in an un-treated room anyway)?"

Completely uncalled. I was actually onboard to buy some foam, yet you failed to answer the last post I posted. Instead, you made a sarcastic remark, just to sound smug on my ears.

2)"Look at some of their start dates and when you see that people have been answering the same question from hundreds of people for 3, 6, 7, 10 years you can understand a little irritation creeping in."

Really? What do you mean? That I should go to a forum that I happen to have an expertise, and start calling everybody a "newb" because I am bored to answer the same questions? No, thanks. That's not how it works. I want to help? I have a friendly attitude, and answer to someone as good as I can. If I get tired of answering the same things, I will not bother to answer. No, telling me I am a newb, and that I am acting like it's the end of the world (Which I have no idea where you it got from) is not better than not answering at all. Just move on.

The rest of the replies are just agreements to something I didn't ever say, which is that I actually find it hard to do ANY room treatment at all. Not much =/ Nothing.
Calling someone a "newbie", and patronizing, doesn't help anything, it just ruins the friendliness that every forum must have.

PS: If I really am in a wrong category, you could just say so, instead of bashing me. I have no idea how could you think I want to build an actual studio with 320$ and the mentioned setup.

So, you're not a newb? The fact that you think "room treatment" means covering all the walls proves otherwise.

The fact that you think "room treatment" involves using FOAM also proves otherwise.

"Newb" is not an insult. Sometimes, like in this case, it's just a fact.

Your first responses to the mention of room treatment were reluctance. That's why I posted what I posted.

Nobody said your question was in the wrong category. The point was just the opposite. The ANSWERS you were getting about "Room treatment" have everything to do with the name of the "STUDIO BUILD" forum, and your question about "IMPROVING your HOME STUDIO" have everything to do with "room treatment".

Don't blame us for your comprehension problem.

Like I said, maybe one day you'll realize you got the best advice you could possibly get in this thread. You can thank us later.

:)

don't buy foam. you need treatment and you can make them yourself. get that foam stuff out of your head and have a look at this YouTube - How to make a Bass Trap Acoustic Panel (Tutorial) and this RealTraps - How To Set Up a Room and this John Sayers' Recording Studio Design Forum • Index page. Lot's of good info. You don't have to modify the room, your just adding some bass traps the stand up in the corner and your reflections can hang on your wall like a picture frame. They aren't that heavy because i have a few in my room. Hope this helps.

Are we on different threads here? Seriously?

Re-Tox asked me, do I have treatment. I responded, no, I don't actually have treatment, and given the fact that the room is small and I do not own it, so I cannot install permanent solutions, I thought that there is not much to do.

Then he replied back, and corrected that in fact, I need to do it in a small room more than a big one, and that I can place impermanent solutions.
Right away, I asked where to buy them, and where to learn about placement, with no hesitation at all.

Explain to me, where did you get that I DON'T want to do it? Where did I say "Oh, room treatment is un-needed, please recommend pricey equipment"?

I have a very powerful computer, Reason, Cubase, Nuedo, FL Studio and many more. My question is pretty clear, what would you buy with 320$ to improve this setup?

I would buy licensed copies of the software you're using.

Why are you such an asshole? I'm sure he gets the point. I think he understands your point and he now knows the concept of room treatment and it's potential value. There's no need to brow beat the kid into doing what you want and being what you want him to be.

"climb down off of your pedestal and hang yourself from it"

ROFL!!!! You're still crying, you whiny little wimp. I was replying to his reply to me. If you want to stick to him so bad, take him out to dinner first. :)

You're still obsessed with me after all this time. Hilarious. :D :D :D

Angelo, Supercreep inferred exactly what is causing your questions to be ridiculed. You started in your post showing that clearly you don't have any respect for the work that goes into creating the software you intend to obtain results from. Obvious you have pirated software. Because you have not paid your dues, or for your software, you are bound to get negative opinion from here. Btw, remember I tried to be nice and send you a PM telling you you were an ass and about to be banned from this forum because you were blatantly showing you were a thief? You never replied to me. So there ends my nice guy side. You have officially become an asshole to me and I hope that you are banned from this site for good!

For those wondering why this KingofPain bozo is still crying to me, check out this thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/gener...e-tracking-phase-problems-315834/#post3553076

Post #7 shows how HE responds to people trying to help him.

I think it's quite apparent who the whiny little asshole is.

Case closed. That was too easy. :)

I'm out. :D

Actually I was just wondering why you were being such asshole. I didn't know you were still concerned with that thread but typing what posted earlier, I somehow knew you'd bring it up.
Maybe people respond to you so negatively cause you're such a fucking self-important asshole?

Just a thought...

I kinda enjoy the company of self important assholes! Especially the ones that care enough to give advice to others. Especially to other SELF IMPORTANT ASSHOLES such as MYSELF! When heads butt regarding personal opinion or personality, it seems the adult thing is to just agree to disagree and move on. Then again, it's pretty fucking hilarious watching the claws come out! Hiss!!! Pssssst! ftttt!

Henry! Come home! we need some comedic relief! :)

King o p: Not takin sides here but I would be set off by your quote: "would you also like to know what I mean by the word "left"? How about what I ate for breakfast?" A simple understanding that we all receive, and sometimes ask, stupid questions. You retaliated, IMO, before realizing the responses you get here may include a bit of sarcasm, yet informative info. RAMI, as I see him, would not just put you out because he feels like it. He seems like a guy that would tell you where to go because you deserve it. Just chill the F*** out and get on with life. :)

I don't know, spring is in the air and all of these bucks are prancing around like it's rutting season.

Everybody lock horns ....and swing your partner and promenade!
