Hey,

Im pretty much done an dusted with my old HD-8 fostex. What im wanting to do is taken the single tracks (not have to bounce them down on the unit) and import them into protools to cut up mix, keep the best recordings, etc. They are saved as .wav but are not playable... any ideas?

adam.

Per the manual, you can only export tracks from tracks 7&8:
The MR-8HD is equipped with the USB port for direct connection to a personal computer using a
USB cable.
The USB connection allows you to export the stereo WAV file data, which is converted from a pair
of mono WAV files on tracks 7/8, to your computer. The exported data can be played back or
edited using a computer's music software application, or used as a source when burning an
original audio CD using a CD-R/RW drive. You can also use this exporting capability for backing
up data to a personal computer when the remaining space of a hard disk becomes small.

Only Windows Me, 2000 and XP computers,
as well as Macintosh computers with OS X or
higher, can be used with the MR-8HD. Other computers
cannot be used.
Check your computer before making connection.

For more info, just read pages 92-95 of the manual HERE

hey mike, yea i understand how to do all of what your saying...basically im wanting to know is theres way to use the tracks without having to bounce them down on the foxtex unit first. i want to be able to use the SINGLE tracks in pro tools not all the tracks bounced down together in 7/8. i could bounce every track by them selves to 7/8 but that would take years! thanks for your reply though.. does anyone else know if this is even posssible?

You'd have to do what you say, - not bounce, though, just copy the tracks to 7/8 then export.
