I'm a little disappointed

Only the falsetto ones. Sorry, cheap won't get you clear deep tone. Well, after some crappy compression, you will get it in the end.

IMHO (smile)

I think I will just wait and see what Dave has to say on the matter.

I have two SHARC DSP110's, and although they are not great, they come in handy occasionally. Which brings me to an often-overlooked benefit to cheap gear- sometimes, you only need it once, or only occasionally, and the cheap stuff does the trick- "Good enough is best."

^^^^^^^^^^ This articulates it well. I fully take the view that the starter of a thread isn't the owner of it, just the OP that kicks it off. I like it when threads assume their own shape. There's a couple I've begun that went off in a direction I could not have forseen and I was really surprized. I learned alot from that, though.

There is merit in Rami's suggestion and your support of it.

However, it does seem to push in a direction that is not viewed that favourably by other members, i.e. more mod control. Someone (presumably a mod) would have to authorise the closing of a thread, and the current climate suggests to me less mod intervention, not more.

Why not simply remove the ability for members to close threads?
Only mods should close them, and only when threads become real nasty and out of control. Sometimes even mods jump the gun a bit when closing a thread.

Why not allow members their autonomy?

Why not allow members to use their own judgement?

Isn't this what the current unrest is all about?

This wasn't that bad for what it is ..... Behringer Ultracurve Pro 8024 Digital Equalizer.

Hi. I'm Richie and I'm a Behringeraholic. I can't help myself. I've tried cheap gear from Nady, Rolls, Art, Samson, and others, but it's just not the same. It's the coolness of devices from China with a German name on them, and the awesome reverse engineering, blatant patent infringement, and awful customer service!
In all seriousness, I've got $40,000 or so sunk into pro audio gear, and I still use the ECM8000, the ADA8000, the VAMP2, and the Bass Vamp PRO. So sue me. Every one of those pieces of gear has done what I asked them to, and none of them has failed. I'll be happy to replace the above with Earthworks, Lucid ADA 8824, and POD Pro XT. Just send me a checkl-Richie

Yes ..... the ECM8000 and the V amps go int the good list category!

I've been using two of the Ultracurves with the sloping fronts (I can't bring to mind the model number) for a number of years, and they've worked flawlessly. The HA4700 is a sturdy and versatile headphone amp, and I've always reckoned the little C2 mikes are hidden treasures.

Yeah...well it seems the admins/mods want to be selective about that... ;)

We're talking about the ability to close threads.
If we agree that once a thread is started it belongs to *everyone*...then no one should be allowed to close it except the mods, and then only if it's gone totally bonkers.

Yeah the HA4700 is a good headphone amp and there is always the need for a pair of C2s to be waiting in the wings to be brought out in a moments notice.

I think the list of good Behri gear may be coming to an end soon ..... unless I''m forgetting something else.

And that is one of the underlying points...that "cheap" gear is usually just a "placeholder" for when we hit the lottery and can go out and buy the better stuff. :)

But yeah...I love the whole Feng Shui vibe of the - made in China, with a German name, from stolen ideas/patents, and don't call us 'cuz our support sucks that the Behri gear often exudes. :laughings:

I've closed threads that I have started only to reopen them at a latter date to continue with a debate.
Is this still possible?

I can't stand to see you suffer like that Richie.

The check is in the mail.

Yeah the HA4700 is a good headphone amp....

Their earlier model (I think it was the 4400) was a total DOG!

I got one about 7 years ago from MF...'cuz it looked like a decent headphone amp, and like, how much could they screw up a friggin'' headphone amp! :D

So it arrives, and I look at the specs and notice that the total impedance number was kinda odd. I then realize that it's way off, and could *easily* be exceeded with just a couple of the more common headphones. See...they must have assumed that everyone would use a particular brand/model headphone (probably whatever the reverse engineering guys had on their desk at the time)...so they set the impedance favoring only very high impedance headphones. If you hooked up just a couple of low impedance headphones, you could easily fry the amp.
I called them...and at first the guy on the end of the phone didn't get what I was saying. I had to explain it to him about the different brands of headphones using all kinds of different impedances, and how hooking four headphones with low impedance could kill the amp. He finally got it.
I immediately returned the Behri amp and got a Samson headphone amp...but within just a few months, Behri came out with a new model, and on it, they corrected the impedance issue. :)

Miro, you should backcharge them for engineering services rendered.

In an age of disposible Behri fits right in there ..... right along side of bic lighters, guitar strings and drummers. :D

I would if we didn't already know that Behri doesn't pay for design/engineering ideas...they just "borrow" them! :laughings:
