Anyone know why there are no modern soft synths available? why is it mostly vintage synths?

I would love to see Nord Lead, Novation,Access Virus, Waldorf, etc...
all come out with DXi and VST for everyone.
That would truly rock!

lol. getting a supernova on a computer, yooooooo..... have you got any idea of how many submenus and shit that baby have? Just the oscillator section is huge.
But it would be cool of course. but i don't think it's possible, you need dedicated devices for that kind of handleing

So, you would like to see software emulations of synths that simulate the old ones instead of software emulations of the old synths?

BTW, you can get a software version of the Virus from Access. It's a plugin for something...

No Roel,
I would simply like to be able to produce the same sounds, and have the same features in a software version of those synths. Also I don't believe ALL of those synths to be emulation's of a specific vintage model but yet a refinement of the analogue technology that the vintage models used.

Also i dont believe the Virus makes a VST or DXi version.

and yes Chriss, that makes sence, it may just not be possible to bring that technology to soft synths yet.
But it sure would be nice!

They do have a version for protools. Don't know anything about VST or DXi.

And I really don't care. I'm building my own analog modular. Nothing beats the real thing...

Well in terms of analogue sound, novation is really getting up there... frequency range of 20khz, Analogue is way, way too expensive for me, but in the future I KNOW I'm getting a doepfer modular system.
The voice specs and algorithm possibillitys are way higher on V/A synths non the less...
I could imagine a virus VST cause virus is kinda lame compared to a monster like the supernova. great filters though

GODDAMN ROEL! those MOTM devices are the bloody shit!!! But argh, two oscillators cost the same as a Supernova I... lol. That's bleedin' expensive!
They also don't have as huge a selection of different modules as doepfer, but I guess that can be overlooked quite easily with those specs. DAMN!
Though it seems you might need DC lowcut on the oscillators... below 10hz is dangerous for both ears and speakers.

I know.... The oscilators are stable over 12 octaves and drift almost nothing. Make sure you check out the audio-amples on the news page. Freakin'. There's this random patch using the 410 triple resonant filter sounding like a humanoid on extremely bad drugs. Huge...

The Oakley stuff is affordable, I think. Specs are also good, but you do have to get your components and frontpanels yourself...

(my oakleystuff 'till now is 1 VCO, 1 VCF, 1 LFO, 2 VCA, 3 EG (ADSR+AD+AR), 1 midicv and 1 mixer/output. Some are partly assembled, nothing finished yet. sigh.)

ohhh, i'm not going for that ol' diy, cause i allways end up picking the cheap solution and ducktaping it all together hehehe
