The automatic gain makup function that some of them have... Ok, ok, perhaps the second most useless... right up there with presets on plugin compressors.
I know the developers mean well, and on paper it sounds like a good idea. But unfortunately it only works with fastest attack settings. And when you have set your attack to for example let the transients on drum tracks pass through, then maaaan DO THEY GET LOUD!$%!@#$!#! And that can be quite damaging to the ears and monitors.
When using the UAD-1 EX1 compressor, I have now gotten in the habit of turning the gain makup knob all the way down, and then bringing it up after adjusting the settings. But that also makes it difficult in finding the proper settings and unnecessarily wastes time.
So, developers. I know you mean well, but please save yourself the trouble and time, or at the very least make it sensitive to attack settings.
