I know that would do me good, but my price range isn't that high as of right now. I can go to the highest of $500-$600 tops. But I wish I could get it =[... Thanks for the input though.

MPLSallstar,
I shall send you something as soon as I am home from vacation if you can wait a couple of weeks (visiting friends out of state and dont have a single peice of gear with me........ I'm about to tear my hair out  )

No gear but I managed to have my digital camara with me so I'll be posting pics but no music argggg!

I realy need a new laptop, sorry rambling.

Oh sorry! :) Forgot to reply to the 1812 question, I forget my head sometimes.

I would still get the m-audio. Build quality and converters of the M-audio still beat the E-mu's.......

Plus if you want to get into Pro-Tools most M-audio cards are compatable now. ANd if you want to use other stuff its all there.

lol It's okay. Hmmm, so which specs should I look out for? I mean, that M-audio has over the EMU? I really appreciate the help!! But you mean to tell me I can use Pro Tools LE on it?

my suggestion is that ... get a maudio tempa right now and save up later for 900+ those are the ones that will live forever
but if ur budget is 600 incloud recording interface...
M-box is actaully quite good... the price should drop for a clearence price soon
the AD/DA is better than Maudio's top interfaces, and it's micpre is from Focuerite's low budget micpres which should be fine

oh and find a SPL Goldmic pre if can still find some left at about 600 range~

oh... and another echo.... no ART pramps!!

I think DXL ment the M-Audio Tampa, and it is a great pre-amp but only a single chanel so if you need to do more than one at a time then it wont work for that. $400!!!!! Wow I havent looked at one of them since my friend built his studio, they have come down a bit in price.

Oh, Gawd! I wish everyone would get off this f**cking M-Box and E-mu kick!
THEY FRIGGEN SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Do yourself a solid and buy a good card or interface, M-Audio, RME, Presonis!

MPLSallstar,
Oh yeah travel pics! :) I should be taking some shouldnt I? My wife is gonna kill me.............

I am thinking of getting the 1820M to be the all in one solution . Mic Pre, Compressor, etc ...

Why does the 1820 cost much less than the 1820M, could someone shed some light ?

Symetrix SX202 two channel clean preamp. Pads on both channels. Full 48v phantom power and polarity reverse. @$150 on e-bay.

If you want a new clean preamp, Symetrix 302. @$250 new. The current version of the SX202 (but with different chips). One went on e-bay for $79 recently (without power supply, but you can buy those for @$10).

Brick.

In my experience, the ART preamps actually sound prettty good. The DMP2 (predecessor to the DMP3) was also an excellent choice.
I don't think you would go wrong with either.

To tell you the truth, you can get a lot of really quite good preamps in one cheap package by buying a Behringer, or Mackie, mixer with direct outs.
I have compared these directly with other much more expensive preamps and they sound very good.
