Hey,

very good playing. I like the guitar tone you got. I like the mix. Quite big. Hey, is that a c-1 mic?. It sounds so much like it. Or maybe a rode ntk.

I like the chorus a lot. I also liked the "big mute"

The vocals did not sound all that good. I think that can be attributed to choice of mic or eq more than anything else.

The bass and snare could have been a tad louder.

VERY good song.

peace

CyanJaguar,

I could use some advice on tracking vocals and vocal EQ. Do you have any advice.
Thanks

Telefunken , really nice, good song.
I would like a list of equipment you used, if possible.

The vocals? I like em, but the one problem I hear is that the background vocals dont always line up with the lead, but that should be easy to fix. EQ fixes would probably help, but I dont have the expertise to advise you there. Great tune, Dave

I didn't find the vocals that bad at all, there was only one instance where it was noticable to me that the vocals didn't line up, it didn't really sound that bad though, and I liked most of the harmony being done. The bass and the snare are ok volume-wise on my system but, if you had to take someone's word for it, I'm sure CyanJ is listening on something more accurate than me. THe song itself was really good. NIce work

Another great song! I also really enjoyed Wait for Me. I like the vocal harmony in the chorus on Leaving.
It seems like the drums get a little out of sync with the rhythm acoustic guitars at times throughout the song - I guess it all depends on which track you record first. One example is right toward the end of the song (around 4:30 maybe) where everything comes back in after the short silence.
The vocals are FANTASTIC. I wouldn't change the sound at all. A great voice always helps! Good job!

Thanks for the coments guys. I may try rerecording some of the guitartracks to get them to line up a little better.

DavidK, on this tune, I mostly used my joemeek vc1q and a couple of tube preamps. Mics were a oktava mc012 and a at4033 for vocals and guitar. These mics seem to blend real weel. I used the joemeek on snare to get it a little more punchy. I have Roland vs 1880 and the automation feature realy helps you music come alive if you use it right.

Why do vocals need to always line up just right?
Why do the rythym guitars always need to match up with the drums?
This recording sounded really great to me.

Too much 2k on the high hat;)
